Understanding Union With Christ and Reigning Through Grace
THE ETERNAL EQUATION ONE × ONE = ONE
John 17:21-23: “That they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us… that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity”
The Divine Mathematics
Father × Son × Holy Spirit = ONE (Trinity)
Father × Son × Holy Spirit × Bride = ONE (Extended Unity)
ONE × ONE × ONE × [infinite believers] = ONE
In human math: 1 + 1 + 1 = 3 (separation)
In divine math: 1 × 1 × 1 = 1 (unity)
THERE IS ONLY ONE I AM
Exodus 3:14: “I AM WHO I AM”
John 8:58: “Before Abraham was born, I am”
John 14:20: “I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you”
The Progression
“I AM” = Father
“I am” = Son
“You in Me, and I in you” = Us in the ONE I AM
Galatians 2:20: “No longer I who live, but Christ lives in me”
There is only ONE I AM. When we die, HE lives. We become ONE.
THE ONE MATURE MAN
Ephesians 4:13: “Until we all attain… to a mature man”
Not “mature men” (plural). ONE MATURE MAN (singular).
The Pattern of Adam and Eve
Genesis 2:21-24: Adam falls into deep sleep → His side opened → Woman made FROM him → “Bone of my bones, flesh of my flesh” → “They shall become one flesh”
The Prophetic Pattern
Adam (Christ) falls into deep sleep (Death)
His side opened (John 19:34 pierced)
Bride made FROM Him (Blood and water = Church born)
Bone of His bone, flesh of His flesh
ONE FLESH (Marriage consummation)
Ephesians 5:30-32: “We are members of His body… This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church.”
We are not just LIKE Him. We are MADE FROM Him.
Colossians 1:18: “He is also head of the body, the church”
HEAD + BODY = ONE PERSON
THE PURPOSE OF LIFE ONENESS WITH THE FATHER
John 17:3: “This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”
Eternal life IS:
Knowing the Father (ONENESS)
Through the Son (the WAY)
Right now (present tense)
The Entire Story Arc
Genesis 1-2: Man WITH God (Eden)
Genesis 3: Man SEPARATED (Fall SELF born)
Genesis 3-Revelation 19: God RESTORING union
Revelation 21-22: Man WITH God FOREVER
Ephesians 1:9-10: “The summing up of all things in Christ”
The purpose of ALL creation, ALL history, ALL redemption: ONENESS WITH THE FATHER THROUGH THE SON BY THE SPIRIT
REDEEMED, RECLAIMED, RESTORED
1 Peter 1:18-19: “Redeemed… with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ”
Redeemed = Bought back from slavery to SELF
Titus 2:14: “A people for His own possession”
1 Corinthians 6:19-20: “You are not your own… you have been bought with a price”
1 Peter 5:10 The Four-Fold Restoration
“The God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.”
Perfect = Mend, restore to original function
Confirm = Establish firmly
Strengthen = Make strong, empower
Establish = Lay foundation
God HIMSELF does all four. Not us. HIM.
THE MIND OF CHRIST AND THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH
1 Corinthians 2:16: “We have the mind of Christ.”
Not “working toward” it. We HAVE it.
John 16:13-15: “When He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth… He will disclose to you what is to come… All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you.”
The Divine Flow of Revelation
Father HAS all things → Son RECEIVES from Father → Spirit TAKES from Son → Spirit DISCLOSES to us
Father → Son → Spirit → Us
This is ONENESS in operation.
REIGNING THROUGH GRACE (Romans 5)
Romans 5:17: “Those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.”
Notice HOW we reign:
RECEIVE (not earn)
Abundance of GRACE (more than enough)
Gift of righteousness (not ours, HIS)
Reign IN LIFE (not over people)
THROUGH the One (not our power)
Romans 5:20-21: “Where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, even so grace would reign through righteousness”
Grace REIGNS. And we reign WITH Him, IN Him, THROUGH Him.
The Throne of Grace Hebrews 4:16
“Let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
Not “throne of judgment” but “throne of GRACE”
John 1:16-17 Grace Upon Grace
“Of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace.”
Wave after wave, endless supply
This is how we reign—by living FROM His endless supply of grace.
LOVE THE ABSENCE OF SELF
1 Corinthians 13:4-5: “Love… does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered”
Every attribute of love = Death of SELF
John 15:13: “Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.”
Greatest love = SELF-death
THE GOSPEL OF ONENESS
Luke 9:23-24: “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me”
The Gospel requirement:
Deny SELF
Take up cross DAILY
Follow Him
Romans 6:3-6: “All of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death… our old self was crucified with Him”
Not SELF improved. SELF executed.
2 Corinthians 5:17: “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away”
Not renovated SELF. NEW CREATION.
PART TWO CONCLUSION
The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are ONE.
By grace, through faith, in Christ’s death and resurrection, we become ONE WITH THEM.
Not improved versions of ourselves.
But ACTUAL PARTICIPANTS in the divine nature, ACTUAL MEMBERS of His body, ACTUALLY ONE with the ONE I AM.
This is the Gospel. This is ONENESS.
