Love Your Enemies at the Throne of Grace

In a world often marked by division, loving our enemies is a profound reflection of the radical generosity of Jesus, our Lord and Master. It is through acts of Grace working through love that Jesus seeks to mold us into His image of love.

"Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of Grace, so that we may receive mercy and find Grace to help in time of need." Hebrews 4:16

As we boldly approach the Throne of Grace, let us receive the Savior’s love and seek His mercy and extend it to those who stand against us—our enemies.

"But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you," Matthew 5:44

This act of love, of extending Grace to our enemies, is not just an action but a transformation of our very being. It encapsulates the essence of our Savior's heart, who loved us even when we were His enemies.

"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." Ephesians 6:12

At the foot of the Throne of Grace, where forgiveness flows freely and reconciliation is made possible by Jesus, we are not just called but compelled to extend the same Grace to our enemies, those who have wronged us.

"Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation." 2 Corinthians 5:18-19

In this sacred space, we lay down the weapons of bitterness and resentment, choosing instead to clothe ourselves in the armor of love and compassion.

"And not only this, but we also exult in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation." Romans 5:11

It is in the presence of our Heavenly Father that we find the strength to forgive, knowing that we ourselves have been forgiven much. This act of forgiveness and reconciliation is not just a duty but a source of immense strength and freedom.

"Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm." Ephesians 6:13

Love your enemy at the Throne of Grace. We are called to LOVE our enemies. Enemies? Who or what is our enemy?

An enemy is anyone who offends us, hurts our feelings, and attempts to oppose what God has called and empowered us to do.

"You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you," Matthew 5:43-44

An enemy opposes us and says all kinds of unfavorable things about us.

“Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 5:10

It is God’s will that we love our enemies. He did. He does.

“But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you." Luke 6:27-28

When Jesus came to this earth to save us, we were all His enemies–every one of us.

"But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful." Luke 6:35-36

Jesus came to make the way for all of us to receive the truth and walk in His eternal life of Glory and Goodness.

"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us... For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life." Romans 5:8, 10

Jesus came to make the way, and He did. Jesus came to show us the way, and He did.

"Blessed are those slaves whom the master will find on the alert when he comes; truly I say to you, that he will gird himself to serve, and have them recline at the table, and will come up and wait on them." Luke 12:37

Jesus sent us the Holy Spirit, THE HELPER so we can live our lives in the New Humanity as if Jesus were us.

"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you." John 14:26

God wants to do through us what only He can. We cannot transform ourselves.

"When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, that is the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify about Me," John 15:26

We can LOVE OUR ENEMIES, and the Holy Spirit, the COMFORTER, and HELPER will empower us by Grace working through LOVE. We can do all things through Christ.

"But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you." John 16:7

Jesus is the righteous King of Peace. What Jesus makes RIGHT, is made RIGHT eternally.

"For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, who met Abraham as he was returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him, to whom also Abraham apportioned a tenth part of all the spoils, was first of all, by the translation of his name, king of righteousness, and then also king of Salem, which is king of peace. Without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God, he remains a priest perpetually. Now observe how great this man was to whom Abraham, the patriarch, gave a tenth of the choicest spoils." Hebrews 7:1-4

Jesus is the peaceful King of Righteousness. Jesus has forever made peace between God and man.

"He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." 2 Corinthians 5:21

Jesus is the King of Salem, the High Priest of the order of Melchizedek, with no beginning and no end.

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7

Jesus is the KING of God’s Love. Jesus is still washing feet. Jesus is the SERVANT KING, and He is always serving and will always serve, for eternity.

"Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful." John 14:27

Jesus never stopped washing feet, and He’s still showing us how to do it.

"For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another." Galatians 5:13

Jesus is our High Priest, and He rules and reigns from the Throne of Grace with our Father in Heaven.

"If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet." John 13:14

Jesus, as our High Priest, offered His blood as the sacrifice for ALL SINS. Jesus, having suffered in the flesh, died, was buried, and resurrected by the Father AFTER making justification for ALL SINS.

"After saying above, “Sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You have not desired, nor have You taken pleasure in them” (which are offered according to the Law), then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will.” He takes away the first in order to establish the second. By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Every priest stands daily ministering and offering time after time the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins; but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, sat down at the right hand of God, waiting from that time onward until His enemies be made a footstool for His feet. For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified. And the Holy Spirit also testifies to us; for after saying, “This is the covenant that I will make with them After those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws upon their heart, And on their mind I will write them,”He then says, “And their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” Now where there is forgiveness of these things, there is no longer any offering for sin.” Hebrews 10:8-18

Jesus, as our High Priest, conquered death and fulfilled all of the Father's will. He then took His human blood and made ONE Atonement for ALL SINS. Jesus sprinkled His own blood on the Mercy Seat in Heaven, thus reconciling man to God and establishing eternal PEACE for those who believe and receive.

"Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh, 21and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near." Hebrews 10:19-25

Jesus, our High Priest, is now making all things RIGHT. Jesus, the RIGHTEOUS KING, is making everything in creation RIGHT–all for the Glory of our Father.

"But the free gift is not like the transgression. For if by the transgression of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many. The gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned; for on the one hand the judgment arose from one transgression resulting in condemnation, but on the other hand the free gift arose from many transgressions resulting in justification. For if by the transgression of the one, death reigned through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ. So then as through one transgression there resulted condemnation to all men, even so through one act of righteousness there resulted justification of life to all men. For as through the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous. The Law came in so that the transgression would increase; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, even so grace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 5:15-21

As the King of Peace and Righteousness, the King over the New Humanity, King Jesus is now making everything RIGHT. Our part is to seek His Humility, surrender, obedience, and the strength of Grace to fulfill it–to be like Christ!

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9

Jesus commands us to confess our sins and weaknesses, turning them over to Him in exchange for His forgiveness and righteousness.

"Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much." James 5:16

Jesus, our High Priest, is now ruling as King of Peace and Righteousness over all of creation, and God is making all enemies His footstool. Jesus is the only King to LOVE His enemies.

“Every priest stands daily ministering and offering time after time the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins; but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, sat down at the right hand of God, waiting from that time onward until His enemies be made a footstool for His feet. For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified." Hebrews 10:11-14

Jesus stated, “DO NOT FEAR” about a billion times. Jesus stated, “Do not be anxious, for ANYTHING!” And, HE MEANT IT. Jesus wants us to cast all our cares and concerns upon Him–ALL OF THEM. In return, He will make everything RIGHT. In exchange for our messes, God will give us His blessings--Grace working through LOVE. Living in HIS REST, in and from the Heart of God.

"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love." 1 John 4:18

“Let go and Let God” sounds like a cliche, but it’s not. Jesus is serious. He suffered, died, was buried, and rose again to please the Father and serve as the eternal King of Righteousness. This means Jesus is making everything right.

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." Philippians 4:6
