Navigating Blindly by Faith
If you grew up laughing at the cartoon antics of Mr. Magoo, the cheerful, comically blind old man who constantly finds himself in trouble yet somehow narrowly avoids catastrophe, you already understand much of my spiritual journey. I’m Craig Rogers, and spiritually speaking, I am Mr. Magoo.
Blind. Clumsy. Well-intentioned. Always in need of someone to violently redirect my path and rescue me from myself.
Thankfully, King Jesus—my faithful, patient Student Driver Instructor—specializes in navigating spiritual Magoo types like me through life's winding roads and unexpected detours.
Who Exactly is Mr. Magoo?
First, for the uninitiated, who is Mr. Magoo? Mr. Magoo is a classic cartoon character—elderly, nearsighted, blissfully unaware of his impaired vision. He stubbornly insists he can see just fine and drives confidently through life, somehow escaping disaster at every turn, never realizing the trouble he narrowly avoided.
Sound familiar? Spiritually, this perfectly describes us as modern-day Christians—particularly in the Great Basin Region—blindly driving forward, confident we know best, unaware of just how close we often are to spiritual disaster.
Why is Mr. Magoo So Funny (and Relevant)?
Mr. Magoo is hilarious precisely because his blindness creates constant chaos, yet he remains blissfully oblivious, cheerfully assured he’s in complete control. His adventures entertain us precisely because we see the reality he misses—we know he needs help, guidance, someone with clear sight.
Spiritually, that’s exactly us, or me. My limited, human viewpoint blinds me to God’s clear and perfect direction. Without Jesus—the ultimate seeing Instructor—I confidently charge forward toward inevitable disaster, convinced I’m perfectly fine on my own. I AM NOT!
Proverbs 14:12 "There is a way which seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death."
Craig Rogers, the Spiritual Mr. Magoo
In my personal spiritual journey, I readily admit I am Mr. Magoo—clumsy, stubborn, and spiritually nearsighted. Left to myself, I continually misjudge situations, underestimate dangers, and repeatedly take wrong turns, confidently convinced that I’m heading the right way.
Time and again, Jesus gently taps my shoulder, whispering patiently, "Craig, not that way," and redirects my path safely around spiritual cliffs and pitfalls I never even saw.
This humility and awareness of my profound spiritual blindness have profoundly transformed my life, ministry, and relationships.
John 9:39 "And Jesus said, 'For judgment I came into this world, so that those who do not see may see…'"
If Mr. Magoo Were Driving with Jesus as the Instructor
Can you imagine Mr. Magoo as a student driver with Jesus calmly seated in the instructor seat? Magoo confidently turns down a busy highway ramp in the wrong direction, cheerfully ignoring all warning signs. Jesus calmly takes the wheel, gently steering Magoo back onto the safe road, patiently guiding him through every unexpected obstacle.
This analogy perfectly describes my entire life. Jesus, infinitely patient, graciously redirects me again and again, lovingly correcting my misguided turns, gently leading me toward divine destinations I cannot yet see clearly.
Isaiah 42:16 "I will lead the blind by a way they do not know… I will make darkness into light before them."
How Are We Modern-Day Magoo's, Especially About the End Times?
In the context of biblical prophecy and Jesus’ imminent return (the Harpazo), we modern-day Christians often resemble Mr. Magoo—confidently oblivious, blindly navigating spiritual darkness without true biblical discernment or awareness.
We eagerly grab the wheel, convinced we clearly understand the times, yet remain spiritually asleep or complacent about Christ’s clear warnings concerning end-time events.
Jesus sternly warned:
Matthew 24:42 "Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming."
Without humility, dependence, and intimacy with Christ—our seeing Instructor—we inevitably drive blindly, dangerously close to spiritual disaster, especially in these crucial end-time days.
Jesus, Our Patient Instructor
Thankfully, Jesus graciously promises to guide His blind, clueless followers safely through spiritual darkness, confusion, and danger. He patiently instructs, redirects, corrects, and protects us, despite our stubborn, Mr. Magoo-like tendencies.
The Bible reassures us:
Psalm 32:8 "I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you."
Overcoming Fear – Mr. Magoo’s Greatest Enemy
As Mr. Magoo, the thing that tempts me most to grab the wheel away from Jesus is fear. Fear whispers I can’t trust God’s timing or direction, driving me impulsively into dangerous spiritual decisions.
Yet Jesus commands repeatedly:
Isaiah 41:10 "Do not fear, for I am with you…"
Fear always attempts to seize control away from faith. But as spiritual Mr. Magoo, I've learned fear drives me into disaster, while faith safely guides me home.
Lessons from the Adventures of Mr. Magoo and Jesus
This humorous analogy teaches critical lessons for every believer:
Humility: We must acknowledge our profound spiritual blindness and dependence upon Jesus’ perfect sight and guidance. (James 4:10)
Trust: We must completely trust Jesus to safely guide us, surrendering all fears and anxieties. (Proverbs 3:5–6)
Obedience: We must joyfully obey Christ’s gentle instruction, believing His ways far surpass our limited sight. (John 14:15)
The Urgent Call to the Great Basin Region
To believers and churches across the Great Basin Region, I passionately urge: recognize your spiritual blindness and dependence upon Christ. Reject pride, human strategies, worldly wisdom, and stubborn independence.
Embrace Jesus fully as your Patient Instructor, humble yourself before Him, and let Him gently guide you through every spiritual road ahead, especially regarding these critical end-time days. Seek intimacy, trust, and joyful obedience—letting Him steer your path perfectly into His divine purposes and timing.
Trusting Jesus in Our Blindness
As spiritual Mr. Magoo, I've joyfully embraced my blindness, confident that with Jesus as my Instructor, I’ll always arrive safely. While spiritually blind on my own, in His perfect care I see clearly, navigate safely, and faithfully fulfill my divine assignment.
Today, let's boldly confess our spiritual blindness, joyfully surrender control, and trust completely in Jesus’ perfect sight, timing, and direction. Only then can we confidently navigate safely through spiritual darkness, faithfully prepared and alert for our King's imminent return.
Together, let's joyfully embrace the adventures of Mr. Magoo and King Jesus—trusting Him fully as our patient Instructor, safely guiding us home into His eternal Kingdom.
Psalm 25:9 "He leads the humble in justice, And He teaches the humble His way."
Buckle up, Mr. Magoo—our adventure with King Jesus is just getting started.
Pagan Religion and Pagan Religious Practices
Biblical Definition of "Pagan"
In the NASB 1995, the specific term "pagan" is referenced explicitly in:
Matthew 6:7 "And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words."
The Greek word translated "Gentiles" (ethnikos) in this verse indicates "heathen," "pagan," or those without relationship to the God of Israel. Biblically, paganism involves religious beliefs or practices not grounded in, or openly opposed to, the revelation of the one true God—the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
Additionally, "pagan" religious practices are repeatedly described throughout Scripture as idolatrous rituals, sensual worship, offerings to false gods, human-made religion, and practices opposed to the commandments and statutes of God.
Deuteronomy 12:30-31 clearly describes the essence of pagan religious practices:
Deuteronomy 12:30-31 "Beware that you are not ensnared to follow them, after they are destroyed before you, and that you do not inquire after their gods, saying, 'How do these nations serve their gods, that I also may do likewise?' You shall not behave thus toward the Lord your God, for every abominable act which the Lord hates they have done for their gods; for they even burn their sons and daughters in the fire to their gods."
Thus, biblically defined, pagan religious practices involve worshiping or serving any other gods, idols, or created entities, employing worldly rituals, sensual indulgences, and humanly invented traditions or teachings in place of, or alongside, true biblical faith and worship.
Modern-Day Pagan Religions and Practices in Great Basin Churches
Applying our stated biblical framework, modern-day paganism within American Christianity, specifically in the Great Basin Region, includes the following practices and belief systems:
Worship of Money and Materialism (Mammon Worship): Modern churches often define success numerically (attendance, offerings, buildings), subtly replacing true worship of God with material prosperity and financial growth.
"No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other... You cannot serve God and wealth." Luke 16:13
Celebrity Pastor Worship & Church Branding: Elevating pastors and leaders to celebrity status, branding and marketing their personalities rather than pointing solely to Christ—reflecting idolatrous human-worship practices.
"Little children, guard yourselves from idols." 1 John 5:21
Transactional Christianity & Prosperity Gospel: Teaching that believers can manipulate God through offerings, rituals, or "seed faith," effectively creating a transactional, business-like approach to Christianity. Such practices mirror ancient paganism, where appeasing gods through rituals was standard practice.
"But false prophets also arose among the people... who will secretly introduce destructive heresies..." 2 Peter 2:1
Syncretism and Mixing of Religious Practices: Many churches blend secular psychology, New Age spirituality, Eastern religious meditation, yoga, and other non-biblical philosophies into Christian teachings, resulting in religious syncretism—distinctly pagan in origin.
"Do not be bound together with unbelievers... what harmony has Christ with Belial..." 2 Corinthians 6:14-16
Entertainment-Based Worship: Excessive reliance on entertainment, emotional manipulation through music, lighting, stage production, fog machines, or other worldly methods rather than genuine reverence and biblical worship.
"God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." John 4:24
Specifically Addressing the Great Basin Region
The LDS Church prominently incorporates rituals and beliefs directly opposed to biblical Christianity, including temple rituals, priesthood hierarchies, baptisms for the dead, secret temple rites, and teachings that elevate human beings to eventual deity-like status. All of these distinctly reflect pagan and polytheistic practices rather than biblical Christianity.
"I am the Lord, and there is no other; besides Me there is no God." Isaiah 45:5
Additionally, Multisite Churches led by CEO-type pastors often practice hierarchical, corporate business structures that elevate human leadership above the Spirit-led biblical model (no Elders). Authority is centralized, distancing believers from true biblical discipleship, accountability, and authentic community as found in the early church.
"You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them... It is not this way among you..." Matthew 20:25-26
If Peter, John, James, or Paul Were Touring the Great Basin Region Churches Today
They would clearly denounce the LDS Church’s additional scriptures, rituals, temple practices, and human-exalting teachings as overtly paganistic idolatry and deception.
They would rebuke modern Multisite churches for their corporate business models, celebrity pastor worship, transactional teachings, prosperity gospel, and entertainment-driven practices as a form of paganism subtly disguised as Christianity.
"But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached... he is to be accursed!" Galatians 1:8
Consequences of Modern-Day Paganism in Churches
Spiritual confusion, blindness, and deception become widespread. Authentic discipleship is replaced by superficial spirituality. Churches fail to fulfill their God-ordained role of making true disciples.
Believers unknowingly embrace a counterfeit Christianity, becoming lukewarm and ineffective spiritually. Ultimately, churches face judgment and removal of God's favor, blessing, and presence.
"Because you are lukewarm... I will spit you out of My mouth." Revelation 3:16
Biblical Call to Action
The urgent biblical command is to repent, reject every form of pagan practice and idolatry, and return wholeheartedly to Christ alone.
"Therefore come out from their midst and be separate," says the Lord. "And do not touch what is unclean; and I will welcome you." 2 Corinthians 6:17
Peter, John, James, and Paul would passionately proclaim that the only solution to pagan practices is radical repentance, humble confession, and absolute surrender to King Jesus alone. Any practice not directly grounded in the biblical revelation of Jesus Christ must be decisively abandoned, allowing genuine biblical faith to thrive unhindered in the Great Basin Region.
The Prodigal Son
Luke 15:11-32 “And He said, "A man had two sons. The younger of them said to his father, 'Father, give me the share of the estate that falls to me.' So he divided his wealth between them. And not many days later, the younger son gathered everything together and went on a journey into a distant country, and there he squandered his estate with loose living. Now when he had spent everything, a severe famine occurred in that country, and he began to be impoverished. So he went and hired himself out to one of the citizens of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. And he would have gladly filled his stomach with the pods that the swine were eating, and no one was giving anything to him. But when he came to his senses, he said, 'How many of my father's hired men have more than enough bread, but I am dying here with hunger! I will get up and go to my father, and will say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in your sight; I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me as one of your hired men."' So he got up and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion for him, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. And the son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight; I am no longer worthy to be called your son.'
But the father said to his slaves, 'Quickly bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet; and bring the fattened calf, kill it, and let us eat and celebrate; for this son of mine was dead and has come to life again; he was lost and has been found.' And they began to celebrate. Now his older son was in the field, and when he came and approached the house, he heard music and dancing. And he summoned one of the servants and began inquiring what these things could be. And he said to him, 'Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fattened calf because he has received him back safe and sound.' But he became angry and was not willing to go in; and his father came out and began pleading with him. But he answered and said to his father, 'Look! For so many years I have been serving you and I have never neglected a command of yours; and yet you have never given me a young goat, so that I might celebrate with my friends; but when this son of yours came, who has devoured your wealth with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him.' And he said to him, 'Son, you have always been with me, and all that is mine is yours. But we had to celebrate and rejoice, for this brother of yours was dead and has begun to live, and was lost and has been found.'"
The Father Represents God the Father
The father in this parable represents our Heavenly Father. His lavish love, grace, forgiveness, and restoration symbolize the overwhelming compassion and mercy of God towards repentant sinners.
Psalm 103:13 "Just as a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him."
The Prodigal Son Represents Sinners Who Return (Repentance & Redemption)
The younger son represents every person who strays from God's will, indulging in sin and rebellion, doing it our own way. His repentance, humility, and brokenness model authentic confession and repentance—key biblical teachings on redemption and reconciliation with God. This is not hard, it is easy.
Isaiah 55:7 "Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to the Lord, and He will have compassion on him..."
Older Brother Represents Legalism, Religion, and Self-Righteousness
The older son represents religious individuals who trust in their own works, self-righteousness, religious duty, and legalistic obedience rather than grace and intimate relationship with the Father.
Romans 10:3 "For not knowing about God’s righteousness and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God."
Reconciliation of Humanity and Heaven (Peace with Angels)
The older brother could symbolically represent the jealousy of the heavenly beings (including angels) who have faithfully remained with the Father, observing God's profound, grace-filled love toward sinful humanity. While the angels have never fallen (those who stayed loyal), they have witnessed the Father's radical mercy to fallen humanity—something extraordinary and deeply mysterious.
1 Peter 1:12 "It was revealed to them... things into which angels long to look."
Ephesians 3:10 "So that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places."
Radical Grace & Celebration of Restoration
The Father’s lavish reception demonstrates that God passionately celebrates every lost soul returning home. The robe, ring, and sandals represent full restoration of sonship, authority, and inheritance. He did not have to earn anything, but He did repent and confess… Hmmm…
Luke 15:7 "I tell you... there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance."
Special Significance for End-Time Believers and Followers of Jesus Christ
Urgency to Return and Be Restored
As end-time believers preparing for Jesus’ imminent return (the Bridegroom), the Prodigal Son parable urges authentic repentance, humble confession, and intimacy with God. It’s about coming home—spiritually, emotionally, relationally—to fully dwell in the Father’s presence and His Kingdom. There is no church building or ritual to perform, only celebration.
Revelation 3:19-20 "Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock..."
Avoiding the Trap of the Older Brother
The Prodigal Son parable warns mature Christians against spiritual pride, entitlement, and self-righteousness, emphasizing the vital importance of rejoicing in God's mercy to others and maintaining a heart of humility, grace, and gratitude.
Galatians 6:1 "Brethren, even if anyone is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness..."
End-Time Reconciliation Between Heaven and Earth
As part of the "end-time family of God," believers must comprehend the radical reconciliation and peace Christ has achieved—not just humanity restored, but all creation (including angelic beings) witnessing God's glory through the redemption and restoration of fallen humanity.
Colossians 1:20 "...through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross..."
Preparation for Christ's Imminent Return
As five wise virgins keeping lamps filled with oil (Spirit by Grace), believers must remain humble, attentive, and obedient, eagerly watching and prepared for the imminent return of the Bridegroom—who joyfully and graciously restores all repentant sinners.
Matthew 25:13 "Be on the alert then, for you do not know the day nor the hour."
In the Prodigal Son parable, Jesus profoundly illustrates the radical nature of God’s love, forgiveness, and restoration. End-time believers, especially mature Christians preparing for Christ's return, must grasp the Father’s heart, embracing repentance, humility, and joyful reconciliation. Let us celebrate this restoration, avoid religious pride, and passionately help others return home to the Father, as we eagerly await the glorious reunion with Christ, our Bridegroom.
Modern-Day Idolatry and Mammon
Idolatry: Biblically, idolatry is defined as worshiping, revering, or placing trust, confidence, hope, or value in anything or anyone above or alongside the one true God.
Exodus 20:3-5 “You shall have no other gods before Me. You shall not make for yourself an idol... You shall not worship them or serve them.”
Colossians 3:5 “Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry.”
Mammon: "Mammon" specifically refers to wealth, possessions, or material prosperity, especially when pursued, valued, or trusted more than God Himself.
Matthew 6:24 “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other... You cannot serve God and wealth.”
Modern-Day Forms of Idolatry in the Great Basin Churches
Worship of Leadership and Pastors (Celebrity Culture): Elevating church leaders and pastors to positions of admiration, reverence, or infallibility. Celebrity pastors, multisite church "brands," megachurch personalities. Leaders who build ministries around themselves rather than Christ.
"Little children, guard yourselves from idols." 1 John 5:21
Worship of Comfort and Convenience: Valuing comfort, convenience, security, and prosperity above obedience, discipleship, and biblical truth. Seeker-sensitive models prioritizing attendance over authentic spiritual growth. Avoiding controversial biblical teachings to maintain numbers and financial support.
"Woe to those who are at ease in Zion..." Amos 6:1
Religious Rituals and Traditions
Trusting rituals, traditions, religious acts, or good works instead of genuine relationship with Christ. Empty rituals, repetitive prayers, ceremonial religion without intimacy or relationship. Relying on denominations, rituals, or church attendance for salvation or spiritual superiority.
"This people honors Me with their lips, but their heart is far away from Me." Matthew 15:8
Political or Nationalistic Idolatry
Placing political affiliation, nationalism, or patriotism above loyalty to Christ and His Kingdom. Equating Christianity with a political party, nation, or leader. Compromising biblical standards for political power or cultural acceptance.
"My kingdom is not of this world." John 18:36
Modern-Day Forms of Mammon in Great Basin Churches
Prosperity Gospel and Wealth Focus: Teaching prosperity as evidence of God’s favor; using spiritual manipulation to gain wealth.Teaching "sowing seeds" primarily for financial gain rather than genuine generosity. Measuring spiritual success by personal wealth, church budget, buildings, or attendance.
"Beware, and be on your guard against every form of greed; for not even when one has an abundance does his life consist of his possessions." Luke 12:15
Materialism and Consumerism: Pursuing material possessions, buildings, facilities, and "church growth" strategies over true discipleship. Church as a consumer-driven marketplace rather than a discipleship community.
Valuing amenities, entertainment, and appearances above spiritual authenticity.
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth... But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven..." Matthew 6:19-20
Church Branding & Marketing
Promoting church "brands," image, and appearances above humility, authenticity, and transparency. Relying heavily on marketing, branding, social media followers, and popularity.
Making church growth, reputation, and visibility the main goal.
"For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God?... If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a bond-servant of Christ." Galatians 1:10
Consequences of Modern-Day Idolatry and Mammon Worship
Spiritual Blindness and Deception: Believers become spiritually dull, ineffective, and disconnected from God's voice and power.
"Their idols are silver and gold... Those who make them will become like them..." Psalm 115:4-8
Judgment and Discipline from God
God’s discipline upon idolatry within His Church is clear and direct—He will not tolerate divided worship.
"Because you are lukewarm... I will spit you out of My mouth." Revelation 3:16
Loss of True Spiritual Authority
Churches focused on wealth, materialism, celebrity, and comfort lose true spiritual power and authority.
"Having a form of godliness but denying its power..." 2 Timothy 3:5
Weakness in Spiritual Warfare
Idolatry and mammon worship weaken the church’s ability to effectively engage in spiritual warfare.
"No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life..." 2 Timothy 2:4
Urgent Call to Action & Biblical Response
Radical Repentance & Confession: Acknowledge openly the idols and mammon we have worshipped, individually and corporately, and turn wholeheartedly back to Christ.
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins..." 1 John 1:9
Destroying Idols and Removing Mammon: Decisively remove idols, practices, and teachings that elevate mammon or human glory.
"Little children, guard yourselves from idols." 1 John 5:21
Return to Authentic Worship: Worship God alone—genuine, humble, sincere worship grounded in biblical truth, not entertainment or human comfort.
"God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." John 4:24
Embrace Radical Generosity and Stewardship
Practice radical generosity, using wealth and resources to serve God's Kingdom rather than personal or organizational gain.
"Instruct them... to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share..." 1 Timothy 6:17-19
Align Fully with God’s Kingdom Priorities: Seek first God's Kingdom and His righteousness—complete devotion to His plans and purposes.
"But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." Matthew 6:33
Modern-day idolatry and mammon worship profoundly hinder the Church’s spiritual effectiveness, particularly in the Great Basin Region. True disciples must courageously confront, repent, and abandon these idols, returning wholeheartedly to biblical worship and Kingdom priorities. Let the Church arise with purity, humility, generosity, and Christ-centered devotion—rejecting every false idol, and glorifying God alone.
The Father's Family—A Divine Love Story
The first thing I’ll tell you about me is that, spiritually speaking, I’m the living embodiment of Mr. Magoo. I can’t see clearly without Jesus guiding every single turn, every subtle decision, and every potential pitfall ahead. If left to myself, I'd crash right through the carefully built fences of truth and plunge headfirst into confusion. So, with that said, here I am once again, trusting Jesus—my ever-patient, ever-gracious Student Driver Instructor—as we venture into a deeper story, exploring something near to the heart of God Himself: His Family.
What Does "Family" Mean to the Father?
When God speaks about His family, He isn't referring simply to genetic lineage or earthly bloodlines. It’s far richer, deeper, and more profound. It’s an eternal community—spiritual children bound together by the shared blood of His only begotten Son, King Jesus. To God, Family isn’t a concept—it's His very heartbeat.
The Apostle Paul illuminated this vividly:
Ephesians 3:14–15 "For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name..."
Family, in the Father's eyes, isn’t limited to earthly families. It extends into heaven itself. Angels, spiritual beings, the redeemed humanity—together forming one supernatural, eternal family held securely in His tender yet mighty hand.
The Father’s Heartbeat—His Intention for His Family
Have you ever wondered what truly motivates God our Father? It's the profound desire to gather, protect, nurture, and lavish extravagant love upon His family—His children. He dreams of unity, closeness, and intimacy with each of His children. The Father longs deeply to dwell among His people, bringing peace, wholeness, and abundance into their lives.
Jesus showed us this clearly in His teachings:
Matthew 23:37 "…How often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings…"
This reveals God’s deep longing to nurture and fiercely protect His Family, His heart aching for every one of His lost or wandering children to come home to Him.
What Does the Father Expect of His Family?
God, our Heavenly Father, expects wholehearted love, devotion, and trust—true Family loyalty. He desires His family to carry His heart, His values, and His Kingdom purpose to all creation, reflecting His image and likeness through obedience, humility, and radical generosity.
Micah 6:8 "He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?"
He expects His family to represent Him faithfully and honorably, mirroring His heart and nature in every relationship and decision.
Who is the Enemy of the Father's Family?
Enter the villain of the story—the enemy of God’s family—Satan and his dark hordes. From the very beginning, Satan despised God’s intimate family vision. Humanity made satan jealous, so jealous he can’t see straight. He attacked God’s family in the Garden of Eden and has relentlessly pursued every generation since, trying to fracture and destroy the unity and intimacy God longs to build with His children. Satan hates God, Jesus, and us.
John 10:10 "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy..."
Satan seeks division, isolation, misunderstanding, betrayal, bitterness, and offense. He knows well that a divided, offended, and isolated family cannot thrive or fulfill the Father’s plan.
Genesis 6 and the Older Brother Scenario
This divine family story takes a fascinating turn when we carefully consider Genesis 6—angels, heavenly sons of God, stepping outside their assigned roles, possibly out of jealousy or curiosity regarding humanity:
Genesis 6:1-2 "…the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves, whomever they chose."
This scenario eerily mirrors the older brother from Jesus’ parable of the Prodigal Son—angels possibly perplexed or even resentful at God’s lavish, seemingly unfair love for fallen humanity. They had always served faithfully, yet God poured out extravagant mercy on these flawed humans.
Could the older brother’s resentment in the parable reflect the frustration of certain angelic beings witnessing God's reckless grace toward humanity? It's an intriguing possibility, illuminating the vast and complex spiritual family drama we’re part of.
God’s Divine Rescue Mission
Despite all attacks and internal family struggles, God has never wavered from His divine mission—to reconcile, restore, and redeem His family completely. The Father sent Jesus, His beloved Son, to bridge the chasm between Heaven and Earth, humans and angels, fully reconciling creation back to Himself.
2 Corinthians 5:18–19 "Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation…"
Jesus brought perfect peace, even between spiritual realms, displaying God's masterful wisdom and grace, reconciling not just humanity, but all creation:
Colossians 1:19–20 "For it was the Father's good pleasure… through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross…"
This is the Father’s ultimate victory—complete family reconciliation.
Mr. Magoo, Jesus, and the Family Road Trip
I imagine myself—blind Mr. Magoo, spiritually, trying to drive God’s Family van down life’s perilous highway. Without Jesus beside me, guiding and correcting, this would quickly become catastrophic. Thankfully, Jesus, my patient Instructor, calmly takes the wheel when I swerve off course, gently redirecting our path back toward unity, restoration, and Family harmony.
The enemy, meanwhile, shouts accusations from roadside billboards, tempting us toward division, offense, or distraction. Yet, as long as Jesus remains our Student Driving Instructor, our Navigator, our True North, we safely reach the destination: an intimate, joyous, fully reconciled Family, dwelling with our Father forever.
A Warning and Invitation for Today
God's family in the Great Basin Region, take careful heed. The enemy’s attacks will always aim at division and offense. Unity and family reconciliation are critical to accomplishing our Father's desires. Let us lay down offenses, jealousy, pride, fear, and bitterness, embracing humility, forgiveness, transparency, and radical love as God’s true children.
Hebrews 12:14–15 "Pursue peace with all men… See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble…"
Family—let’s courageously choose unity and intimacy over isolation and offense. God our Father is eagerly waiting to gather us all together again, under His loving wings.
As a spiritual Mr. Magoo, I’ve learned the hard way to simply trust Jesus and obey. Rather, I should say, “I am still learning to trust and obey.” It's never easy, but He patiently redirects and restores me every single time. If I remain humble, transparent, and dependent on King Jesus, our Family Instructor, I will safely arrive at the joyous destination our Father intended all along—united, reconciled, and forever secure in His extravagant love.
Welcome to God's Family—a beautifully imperfect group, reconciled by the perfect Son, journeying together into our Father's divine heart.
Waiting Upon the Lord – A Journey of Faith and Trust
If you've ever seen Mr. Magoo drive, you know exactly what it looks like me to navigate through life without Jesus at my side. Left to myself, I can't even find the ignition, let alone follow the right road. Jesus, my ever-patient Student Driver Instructor, has gently and lovingly taught me one critical lesson more than any other: how to wait.
In fact, the Bible itself seems preoccupied with the word “wait.” God our Father places immense value on His children’s ability to trust, rest, and wait on His perfect timing. But why is waiting so crucial, and why is it also so difficult for us today, especially here in the Great Basin Region?
Let’s journey together, exploring what “waiting on the Lord” truly means.
What Does "Waiting on the Lord" Really Mean?
Biblically speaking, waiting isn’t passive. It's active, hopeful, expectant trust that God’s timing is perfect, His ways flawless, and His promises sure.
Isaiah captures it beautifully:
Isaiah 40:31 "Yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary."
Waiting means trusting God fully, refusing to rush ahead or manipulate circumstances in our own limited understanding. It means yielding control entirely to Him, believing deeply that He will act at the right moment and in the best way.
The Father’s Seasons and Timing
God operates clearly in seasons and appointed times. Ecclesiastes states profoundly:
Ecclesiastes 3:1 "There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven—"
God carefully crafts each moment. Just as He created specific seasons in nature, He also orchestrates spiritual seasons for our lives. Understanding and embracing these spiritual seasons are essential for fulfilling our destiny and aligning with His divine purposes.
Why is Waiting So Hard?
Why, then, do we struggle to wait upon the Lord? Simply put, waiting exposes our fears, impatience, and unbelief. It reveals whether we genuinely trust God’s goodness and sovereignty or prefer our own short-sighted control.
Mr. Magoo, spiritually blind as I often am, wants to grab the wheel impulsively, thinking, "I can handle this!" Each time, I’m gently reminded—usually by the terrifying sound of tires veering off the road—that my timing and judgment fall woefully short of His perfect ways.
The fear of missing out, anxiety about delays, or our need for immediate gratification pressures us toward hurried actions and rash decisions. Yet these responses always come at a price—often a devastating one. At least they have for me. If you think of me, think of Mr. Magoo.
Modern-Day Examples in the Great Basin Region
I’ve observed countless believers, starting with me, suffer significant setbacks, spiritual stagnation, and heartbreaking losses simply because I chose not to wait. In ministry decisions, relationships, business ventures, and even spiritual breakthroughs, rushing ahead without God always leads to painful outcomes.
For instance, many churches desperately chase numerical growth rather than patiently cultivating authentic discipleship and community. Impatient to see immediate results, they adopt worldly, marketing-driven strategies that produce superficial believers rather than spiritually mature disciples.
The Consequences of Not Waiting on God
Biblically, failing to wait upon God carries profound consequences:
Loss of Blessings and Inheritance: Esau traded his inheritance impulsively for immediate comfort. (Hebrews 12:16–17)
Relational Conflict: Abraham and Sarah’s impatience birthed Ishmael, creating conflict spanning generations. (Genesis 16:2–4)
Spiritual Weakness and Burnout: Attempting Kingdom work apart from God’s timing results in exhaustion and failure. (Psalm 127:1)
If we fail to embrace God’s timing, we risk forfeiting the abundant blessings and purpose He intends for us.
What Are the Benefits of Waiting on God?
Conversely, waiting on God releases incredible spiritual rewards:
Renewed Strength and Endurance: (Isaiah 40:31)
Clarity and Divine Direction: (Proverbs 3:5–6)
Peace and Protection: (Psalm 27:14)
Fulfillment of Promises and Prophecies: (Habakkuk 2:3)
Waiting aligns us perfectly with God’s divine orchestration, releasing profound breakthroughs, supernatural blessings, and powerful testimonies.
Knowing the Seasons: Why Timing is Crucial
Jesus sternly warned His followers about missing God’s appointed times and seasons:
Luke 19:44 "…because you did not recognize the time of your visitation."
End-time believers, especially those called and equipped to serve His Kingdom purposes in the Great Basin Region, must discern God’s timing. We cannot afford to miss it. Waiting is not optional—it is absolutely critical to any and all spiritual survival and success.
As the return of Christ (the Bridegroom) draws near, believers must keep lamps filled, ready for His return, and patiently await His perfect timing. Are you?
Mr. Magoo Learns to Wait
I, Mr. Magoo, learned this powerful lesson painfully yet profoundly. Each time I try steering ahead without Jesus, I quickly find myself lost, confused, and disoriented, sometimes even angry at God for delays. Yet, each time I humbly yielded control back to Jesus—my infinitely patient Student Driver Instructor—His faithful hand steadied me, gently guiding me back onto the road of His perfect timing.
Waiting on Jesus has taught me humility, dependence, and trust. The more I wait, the clearer His ways become, the deeper His peace penetrates, and the stronger my faith grows.
A Call to the Great Basin Region
To the Church in the Great Basin Region, I urgently appeal: WAIT on the Lord. Forsake impatience, human control, and the temptation to rush ahead. Surrender your need to manipulate outcomes or accelerate results. Embrace God's perfect timing and divine season.
Our loving Father passionately desires to guide us safely into His abundant blessings, but we must wait for His green light, trusting fully that His ways far surpass our limited sight.
Psalm 37:7 "Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him..."
Trust His Perfect Timing
As Mr. Magoo, I daily confess my blindness, leaning heavily upon Jesus' perfect vision. Waiting upon the Lord, I've discovered, is not passive or wasteful—it's profoundly active faith, yielding eternal fruit.
Today, let's collectively surrender impatience, anxiety, and fear, and joyfully trust in our Father’s flawless timing and perfect ways. His timing is never early, never late—always precisely when we need it most. Trust Him, wait upon Him, and watch how magnificently He leads us into the abundant blessings He’s perfectly planned.
After all, He’s the one with perfect eyesight—I’m just Mr. Magoo along for the ride. And trust me, His timing is always worth the wait.
Understanding the Anointing of God – A Holy Calling
As your resident spiritual Mr. Magoo—I’ve learned several unshakable truths, but one very, very important one: Without Jesus as my Student Driver Instructor, I'm utterly lost, utterly blind, and inevitably crash into confusion. Thankfully, Jesus patiently keeps guiding me toward HIS profound spiritual truth, for only HE IS TRUTH.
Today, let's explore a deeply important topic that the modern-day church often misunderstands or neglects entirely: God’s Anointing.
What is it exactly? Why is it crucial for every believer, especially those here in the Great Basin Region? Let's buckle up and carefully explore this divine mystery.
Biblical Definition of Anointing
In Scripture, "anointing" is God’s divine empowerment and consecration poured upon an individual by the Holy Spirit. The anointing sets apart, equips, and empowers God’s people to fulfill His divine purpose.
In the Old Testament, kings, priests, and prophets were anointed with oil, symbolizing their sacred calling and empowerment by God.
1 Samuel 16:13 "Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed [David] in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon David from that day forward."
In the New Testament, believers are anointed spiritually, not with mere oil but directly by the Holy Spirit Himself, empowering them to fulfill God’s purposes and minister effectively in His Kingdom.
1 John 2:20,27 "But you have an anointing from the Holy One… As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you..."
Why is the Anointing Important for Modern-Day Believers?
Without God’s anointing, our efforts—no matter how sincere or well-intentioned—lack divine power and effectiveness. Think of Mr. Magoo. Would you trust him with anything? The anointing isn't merely talent or charisma; it's a supernatural impartation of God’s power and authority working through us. Without it, we are pissing in the wind.
Jesus Himself modeled reliance upon this divine anointing during His earthly ministry:
Luke 4:18 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He anointed Me to preach the gospel…"
As end-time believers preparing for Jesus’s imminent return, understanding and walking in the true biblical anointing is absolutely vital for effective ministry and spiritual authority.
Connection Between Anointing and God’s Grace
Is the anointing simply another word for God’s Grace? Not exactly, but they’re intimately connected. Grace is the unmerited favor and absolute goodness of God poured upon believers, enabling and empowering them. Anointing, then, is the specific outworking or manifestation of that grace—the supernatural empowerment to accomplish God’s purposes.
Paul described this connection powerfully:
1 Corinthians 15:10 "But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me did not prove vain..."
God’s grace fuels His anointing in our lives, enabling supernatural effectiveness and empowerment.
How is the Anointing Received?
The anointing is never self-generated; it’s solely imparted by God through intimate relationship, obedience, humility, and dependence upon the Holy Spirit.
Intimacy with God: True anointing flows from deep, intimate fellowship with God in the Secret Place. (John 15:4–5)
Humility and Obedience: Pride quenches the anointing; humility and obedience attract it. (James 4:6)
Prayer and Waiting upon God: Waiting in prayerful expectation positions believers to receive the anointing. (Acts 1:8)
What Happens When Believers Lack True Anointing?
Without authentic, Holy Spirit anointing, ministry efforts become powerless, lifeless, and ineffective—mere religious performances rather than divine assignments. Paul warned against powerless forms of godliness:
2 Timothy 3:5 "…holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these."
Modern-Day Misunderstandings in the Great Basin Region
Tragically, much of the modern-day church in the Great Basin Region mistakenly equates anointing with talent, charisma, popularity, or emotionalism. Churches may measure anointing by attendance, applause, and excitement, rather than discipleship, true spiritual transformation, and lasting fruitfulness.
The LDS Church also misunderstands anointing, often equating it to rituals, ceremonial authority, or hierarchy rather than the genuine spiritual empowerment described clearly in Scripture. This misunderstanding leads to religious formality rather than divine power.
The Consequences of Misunderstanding Anointing
Misunderstanding or neglecting the true biblical anointing results in spiritually powerless congregations, compromised doctrines, and vulnerable believers susceptible to deception and spiritual stagnation.
Without true anointing, believers fail to effectively combat spiritual darkness or fulfill God’s purposes, especially critical as we prepare for Christ’s return.
Mr. Magoo Discovers True Anointing
As Mr. Magoo, spiritually blind and desperately dependent upon Jesus, I’ve personally experienced the profound difference between ministry rooted in my own abilities versus ministry flowing directly from God’s anointing. My efforts, devoid of divine empowerment, lead only to frustration, confusion, and exhaustion.
Yet, when I humbly surrender fully to Jesus—my Student DriverInstructor, Guide, and Lord—His anointing profoundly transforms every effort into supernatural effectiveness and lasting fruitfulness. He turns my weaknesses into His strengths, my blindness into supernatural insight, and my limitations into limitless divine possibilities.
2 Corinthians 12:9–10 "…My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness…"
A Call to the Great Basin Region—Receive True Anointing
Churches, ministries, and believers across the Great Basin Region, it’s time to reject superficial substitutes and humbly embrace authentic biblical anointing. Forsake human strategies, charisma, and religious ritual. Instead, earnestly pursue intimacy with Jesus in the Secret Place, through humility, obedience, and reliance upon His Holy Spirit.
Only then will genuine spiritual awakening, supernatural power, and lasting fruitfulness flood this region, equipping us to faithfully fulfill God’s end-time purposes.
Live Under God’s Anointing
Today, let’s wholeheartedly embrace and cherish God's divine anointing. Let's courageously yield control, surrender pride, and pursue intimacy with Jesus above all else. As Mr. Magoo, I've learned to joyfully acknowledge my spiritual blindness and limitations—trusting fully in Jesus' clear vision and supernatural empowerment.
The Great Basin Region awaits authentic disciples, anointed by God, fully equipped and divinely empowered to transform communities, dismantle spiritual darkness, and advance Christ’s Kingdom.
Will you humbly ask to receive this anointing? Will you courageously yield to the Holy Spirit’s leading?
The choice is ours—the time is now. Let's faithfully receive, steward, and live under God's powerful anointing, boldly fulfilling our divine assignment until our King returns.
FAITH and BELIEF—The Great Divide
As Mr. Magoo, I’ve learned that navigating life's road without King Jesus as my Instructor is comically tragic. Try driving blindfolded—utterly impossible and destined for disaster. And among the most crucial lessons Jesus has patiently taught me is this: the profound difference between mere belief and genuine biblical faith.
Today, let's courageously explore the true biblical definition of faith and belief, compare this to modern misconceptions found in both the carnal church and LDS Church within the Great Basin Region, and clarify why this matters immensely for us all as Christ-followers preparing for His imminent return.
Buckle up—this ride could get bumpy!
Biblical Definition: What is True Faith?
Faith, biblically defined, is absolute confidence, trust, and reliance upon God and His Word, even without physical evidence or visible proof.
Hebrews defines it clearly:
Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen."
True biblical faith isn’t intellectual assent or mere acknowledgment of God’s existence—it’s an active, obedient trust that completely shapes our decisions, lifestyle, and destiny.
Belief versus Faith: What Did Jesus Teach?
Jesus frequently distinguished mere intellectual belief from genuine faith. Belief, as mental acknowledgment, isn’t sufficient for salvation or Kingdom effectiveness. Even demons believe—and tremble—without saving faith (James 2:19).
Jesus challenged the superficial faith of the religious elite while celebrating authentic faith, like the Centurion's, built on complete trust and surrender:
Matthew 8:10 "Now when Jesus heard this, He marveled… 'I have not found such great faith with anyone in Israel.'"
Faith, according to Jesus, is fully trusting God, relying entirely upon Him for every provision and purpose.
The Modern-Day Carnal Church and Faith Misunderstandings
Unfortunately, many modern churches—especially in the Great Basin Region—have diluted biblical faith, reducing it to mere intellectual agreement or emotional experiences.
For example:
Faith as Mental Assent: Merely believing certain doctrines without life transformation.
Faith as Prosperity Tool: Manipulating faith as a method for personal prosperity rather than Kingdom advancement.
Faith as Feeling: Equating emotional experiences with true biblical faith.
The result? Weak, powerless congregations incapable of true spiritual victory or Kingdom impact.
LDS Church and Faith Misunderstandings
Similarly, the LDS Church deeply misunderstands biblical faith, mixing human efforts, works, rituals, and temple ordinances into a formula for achieving favor with God. They often interpret faith as believing their leaders and doctrines rather than relying completely upon Jesus alone for salvation and life.
This misinterpretation results in religious bondage and performance-driven spirituality devoid of genuine freedom and intimacy with Christ.
The Serious Consequences of Misunderstanding Faith
Misunderstanding biblical faith isn’t trivial—it carries eternally significant consequences:
Spiritual Powerlessness: Without true faith, believers remain powerless against spiritual attacks.
Religious Bondage: Faith misunderstood results in burdensome, works-based religion, producing exhaustion and despair.
Spiritual Deception: Believers without genuine faith become vulnerable to false doctrines and deceiving spirits, especially in these end times.
What Does True Biblical Faith Look Like?
True biblical faith produces unmistakable, lasting spiritual fruitfulness:
Obedience and Action: Faith always produces obedient action in alignment with God’s commands (James 2:17).
Supernatural Peace and Assurance: True faith provides deep peace and assurance regardless of circumstances (Philippians 4:7).
Enduring Perseverance: Faith empowers believers to endure trials and hardships faithfully (Hebrews 12:1–2).
Kingdom Impact: True faith equips believers to effectively advance Christ’s Kingdom, confronting darkness boldly (Matthew 17:20).
Why Does True Faith Matter for End-Time Believers?
As believers eagerly awaiting Christ’s imminent return (the Harpazo), true faith is absolutely essential:
Preparedness: Faith enables believers to remain spiritually alert and ready (Matthew 25:13).
Discernment: Faith provides clear spiritual discernment, protecting believers from deception (2 Thessalonians 2:9–11).
Boldness and Courage: Faith gives believers boldness and courage, enabling them to faithfully fulfill their divine assignment (Acts 4:31).
Mr. Magoo Discovers Genuine Faith
As Mr. Magoo, blind and often stumbling, I've personally experienced the profound difference between superficial belief and genuine faith. Without true faith, I consistently crash into anxiety, fear, doubt, and confusion.
But when I fully rely on Jesus, trusting His promises despite circumstances, something supernatural happens: He guides, strengthens, comforts, and empowers me to accomplish what was previously impossible.
Faith is the engine that drives Mr. Magoo’s spiritual vehicle safely toward God’s purposes, transforming my blindness into divine sight, my weakness into supernatural strength, and my confusion into absolute clarity.
Hebrews 11:6 "And without faith it is impossible to please Him..."
Call to the Great Basin Region: Embrace Genuine Biblical Faith
To churches and believers across the Great Basin Region, I passionately urge: reject superficial belief and powerless religion. Embrace authentic, biblical faith marked by total reliance upon Jesus, obedient trust in His Word, and supernatural courage.
True faith moves mountains, demolishes strongholds, and transforms entire regions. It empowers believers to boldly confront darkness, overcome deception, and faithfully fulfill God’s end-time assignment.
Let’s courageously forsake human-centered doctrines, powerless rituals, and religious performance. Instead, fully embrace authentic, transformative faith that produces genuine disciples, unstoppable Kingdom impact, and lasting spiritual victory.
Faith, Not Sight
As Mr. Magoo, I joyfully confess my blindness, knowing full well that without Jesus, I cannot navigate the spiritual roads ahead. Yet, with Him—my ever-patient Student Driver Instructor guiding me—I confidently press forward, trusting His perfect direction, power, and provision.
2 Corinthians 5:7 "…for we walk by faith, not by sight…"
Let us all courageously embrace genuine biblical faith. Let’s depend fully upon our Instructor, King Jesus, yielding control, surrendering fears, and walking boldly forward in divine faith—not sight.
The choice is ours. Let’s boldly choose faith, living courageously and victoriously as His true disciples in these critical, end-time days.
