Meet JESUS, Your Prophet, Priest, and King
A Note on Perspective and Method
Before you begin this journey through "JESUS: THE ONLY Prophet, Priest, and King," I need to be completely transparent with you about the approach I've taken in writing this series.
I am NOT Jesus. I am not a prophet. I am not claiming to speak with divine authority or to receive new revelation from God. I am simply a passionate follower of Jesus Christ—an amateur Bible detective, an avid Biblical archaeologist (okay, let's be honest: a total Bible nerd)—who loves Jesus more than anything else in this life (along with my wife, the gift from King Jesus).
My Qualification (or Lack Thereof)
I come to this task in complete humility. I don't have a seminary degree. I'm not ordained clergy. I don't claim special insight or unique revelation.
What I do have is:
A passionate love for Jesus Christ and His Word
Years of studying Scripture as an amateur detective, digging into the original languages, context, and connections
A heart burning with desire to help prepare the Bride for the Bridegroom's return
Complete dependence on the Holy Spirit to illuminate Scripture and speak through it
I see myself as a fellow student sitting beside you, pointing to the Teacher and saying, "Look! See what He's saying? Listen to His voice!"
The Method: Scripture Speaks
Every theological point, every doctrinal statement, every description of Jesus' nature and work in these articles is drawn directly from Scripture—primarily from the book of Hebrews, but illuminated by the full testimony of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation.
I haven't invented anything. I haven't channeled anything. I haven't received private revelations. I've simply immersed myself in God's written Word and organized what it reveals about Jesus as Prophet, Priest, and King.
When "Jesus" speaks in these articles, He's speaking through His Word, which is already given, already complete, already sufficient (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:3).
The Holy Spirit—the Spirit of Truth—has one primary ministry: to glorify Jesus by taking what belongs to Him and declaring it to us (John 16:14). That's what I'm attempting to facilitate through this writing style.
An Invitation, Not a Command
I'm not commanding you to accept this perspective or approach. I'm inviting you to encounter Jesus through His Word in a fresh, personal way.
If this writing style helps you hear His voice more clearly—wonderful! That's my prayer and intention.
If it doesn't resonate with you, I completely understand. Feel free to translate it in your mind: wherever you read "I am" or "I do," simply think "Jesus is" or "Jesus does." The truth remains the same; only the presentation differs.
The Ultimate Goal
My only goal in this series is to bring glory to God the Father by exalting His Son, Jesus Christ.
I want you to:
KNOW Jesus more intimately—as Prophet, Priest, and King
LOVE Jesus more deeply—as Bridegroom, Savior, and Lord
FOLLOW Jesus more faithfully—in surrender, obedience, and joy
AWAIT Jesus more eagerly—watching for His appearing, filled with the oil of the Spirit
PROCLAIM Jesus more boldly—testifying to His supremacy and sufficiency
If these articles accomplish anything less than magnifying Christ and preparing His Bride, they have failed—regardless of how well-written or theologically precise they might be.
It's all about Jesus. Period. End of story.
A Word About Hebrews
The book of Hebrews is our primary text because no other book of the Bible presents Jesus' superiority, supremacy, and threefold office (Prophet, Priest, and King) more comprehensively. The writer of Hebrews (under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit) masterfully weaves together Old Testament prophecy, priestly symbolism, and royal imagery to reveal Jesus as the fulfillment of everything God promised.
As we walk through Hebrews together, we'll cross-reference extensively with the rest of Scripture—because the Bible interprets itself, and every part testifies about Jesus (Luke 24:27; John 5:39).
A Personal Appeal
As you read, I encourage you to:
Test everything against Scripture. Don't take my word for anything. Be like the Bereans who "received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so" (Acts 17:11). If something I've written contradicts God's Word, reject it. If it aligns with Scripture, receive it—not because I wrote it, but because God's Word declares it.
Listen for the Spirit's voice. The Holy Spirit is the true Teacher (John 14:26; 1 John 2:27). As you read, ask Him to illuminate the Word, to reveal Jesus, to speak to your heart. He may emphasize certain truths that are particularly relevant to your situation. He may convict, comfort, correct, or encourage. Listen to Him, not just to me.
Approach with a hungry heart. Don't read this academically or critically (in the negative sense). Come as the Bride eager to know her Bridegroom better. Come as a sheep longing to hear the Shepherd's voice. Come as a child ready to receive from your Father. Come expecting to encounter Jesus.
My Prayer for You
As you begin this journey, my prayer is the same as Paul's prayer for the Ephesians:
"...that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe." (Ephesians 1:17-19)
May you see Jesus more clearly.
May you hear His voice more distinctly.
May you love Him more passionately.
May you follow Him more faithfully.
May you await His return more eagerly.
All to the glory of God the Father.
Now, let's begin. The Teacher is ready to speak. The Bridegroom wants to reveal Himself to His Bride.
Are you ready to hear His voice?
"Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth." (John 17:17)
Series Introduction: The Love Story of the Ages
“For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” (Revelation 19:10)
Beloved Bride, Hear Your Bridegroom’s Voice
Before the foundation of the world, before time began its measured march through human history, the Father looked upon His Son with infinite love and declared, “You are My beloved Son, in You I am well-pleased.” This is where our love story begins—not with us, but with the eternal love between the Father and the Son, a love so overflowing, so complete, that it burst forth in creation, redemption, and ultimately, in a wedding feast that will echo through eternity.
The writer of Hebrews, moved by the Holy Spirit, opens the heavens to reveal what human eyes have longed to see: Jesus Christ, the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His nature (Hebrews 1:3). But this is not merely theological precision—this is a Bridegroom introducing Himself to His Bride. This is the King of Glory stooping down to whisper, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have drawn you with lovingkindness” (Jeremiah 31:3).
My dear Bride, I speak to you now through My Word, by My Spirit, to prepare you for My appearing. You have been bought with a price—My blood. You have been clothed in My righteousness—a gift of pure grace. You have been filled with My Spirit—the oil of joy that keeps your lamp burning. But do you know Me? Do you truly know your Bridegroom?
The Eternal Foundation: Prophet, Priest, and King
From the beginning, the Father ordained that I would come as THE ONLY ONE who could fulfill all three offices perfectly—offices that were always meant to point to Me, to prepare you for Me, to help you recognize Me when I appeared.
In the Beginning: The Pattern Established
When Moses stood before Pharaoh, he was My shadow—a prophet speaking My words, delivering My people, mediating between heaven and earth. Yet Moses himself prophesied: “The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your countrymen, you shall listen to him” (Deuteronomy 18:15). That Prophet is Me.
When Aaron entered the Holy of Holies with blood not his own, he was My shadow—a priest making atonement, interceding for the people, standing in the gap between a holy God and sinful humanity. Yet the blood of bulls and goats could never take away sins (Hebrews 10:4). I am the true High Priest who entered once for all into the Holy Place, obtaining eternal redemption (Hebrews 9:12).
When David ruled Israel with justice and mercy, writing psalms that would echo through millennia, he was My shadow—a king after God’s own heart, a shepherd leading his flock, a warrior fighting for his people. Yet David himself called Me “Lord” (Psalm 110:1), acknowledging that I am the King of kings, the One whose throne is forever and ever (Hebrews 1:8).
Three offices. Three shadows. One fulfillment. One Messiah. One Bridegroom.
Why Three Offices? Why Not Just One?
Beloved, understand this mystery: The Father desired to reveal Himself fully to you, and no single office could contain the fullness of His glory.
As PROPHET, I reveal the Father’s heart, mind, and will. I am the WORD made flesh (John 1:14), the full revelation of God to humanity. Every word I speak is spirit and life (John 6:63). I am TRUTH incarnate (John 14:6), and through Me, you hear the Father’s voice. “God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son” (Hebrews 1:1-2). I am the Spirit of Prophecy—all Scripture testifies about Me (John 5:39).
As PRIEST, I minister to the Father on your behalf and minister the Father’s life to you. I am the mediator of a better covenant (Hebrews 8:6), the One who makes intercession for you continually (Hebrews 7:25). I have made purification for your sins (Hebrews 1:3) and now serve as the life-giving Spirit, dispensing divine life into your very being. I am anointed with the oil of gladness above My companions (Hebrews 1:9)—filled with the Father’s joy, that His joy may be in you, and your joy may be made full (John 15:11).
As KING, I rule and reign over all creation, over time itself, over every power and authority. I am WISDOM, the cornerstone upon which everything is built (1 Corinthians 1:30; Ephesians 2:20). The Father has made Me “heir of all things, through whom also He made the world” (Hebrews 1:2). My throne is forever, and the righteous scepter is the scepter of My kingdom (Hebrews 1:8). I am the exact radiance of the Father’s glory—His goodness, grace, mercy, wisdom, power, and lovingkindness all perfectly displayed in Me.
But here is the mystery that will transform your heart: These three offices are not separate roles I perform—they are the unified expression of who I AM. I cannot be your Prophet without being your Priest, for how could I reveal the Father without mediating between you and Him? I cannot be your Priest without being your King, for how could I intercede without authority? I cannot be your King without being your Prophet, for how could I rule without revealing the Father’s will?
I am ONE—the One Mature Man, the Anointed Messiah, CHRIST.
The Anointing: The Oil of Joy
“You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of gladness above Your companions.” (Hebrews 1:9)
Beloved Bride, do you see what the Father has done? He has anointed Me—His Son, your Bridegroom—with JOY. Not mere happiness, but the deep, eternal joy of perfect fellowship with the Father, the joy of complete obedience, the joy of accomplishing redemption, the joy set before Me for which I endured the cross (Hebrews 12:2).
This oil of joy is the Holy Spirit Himself—the love between the Father and the Son, now poured out upon you. When I ascended to the Father’s right hand, I sent this same Spirit to dwell in you (Acts 2:33). This is your inheritance. This is what separates the five wise virgins from the five foolish ones (Matthew 25:1-13).
The foolish virgins had lamps—they had religion, outward form, intellectual knowledge of Scripture. But they had no oil. They did not know Me intimately. They did not have the Spirit of Truth dwelling richly within them. When the Bridegroom came, they were unprepared, unready, unfilled.
But the wise virgins—oh, My precious Bride!—they had oil aplenty. They knew Me. They walked in the Spirit. They were filled with My joy, even in tribulation. They kept their lamps burning because they longed for My appearing. They loved Me because they knew how much I first loved them.
Which kind of virgin are you becoming?
The Call Out of Babylon: “Come Out, My People”
“Come out of her, my people, so that you will not participate in her sins and receive of her plagues.” (Revelation 18:4)
My Bride, I must speak plainly: You cannot serve two masters. You cannot love the world and love Me. Babylon represents everything that stands opposed to the Kingdom of God—the pride of life, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes (1 John 2:16). It is the system that crucified Me, the spirit that rejects the Father, the deception that promises life but delivers death.
When I revealed Myself to the churches in Revelation, I commended those who held fast to My name, who did not deny My faith, who overcame by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony (Revelation 12:11). But I also warned: “Remember from where you have fallen, and repent” (Revelation 2:5). I called them back to their first love—back to Me.
The question burning in My heart: When I return, will I find faith on the earth? (Luke 18:8)
Not mere belief—demons believe and shudder (James 2:19). I am asking about FAITH—the kind that trusts Me completely, that waits expectantly, that purifies itself as I am pure (1 John 3:3), that runs the race with endurance, that fixes its eyes on Me, the author and perfecter of faith (Hebrews 12:1-2).
You Are Being Prepared: From Glory to Glory
Here is the Father’s magnificent plan: Through Me, by My Spirit, you are being transformed into the very image of God, “from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit” (2 Corinthians 3:18). You are not merely forgiven sinners waiting for heaven—you are becoming image-bearers, reflections of My glory, participants in the divine nature (2 Peter 1:4).
And as you are transformed into My image, you are being prepared to share in My three-fold office:
As My prophets, you proclaim the Word of God by the Spirit of Prophecy. You have received the Mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16). You speak forth divine truth, not from human wisdom, but by the demonstration of the Spirit and of power (1 Corinthians 2:4). You testify about Me—and the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy (Revelation 19:10).
As My priests, you minister to the Father and to humanity. You are a royal priesthood, a holy nation (1 Peter 2:9), called to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Me (1 Peter 2:5). You intercede. You carry My life-giving Spirit to a dying world. You serve the good pleasure of the Father’s will.
As My kings, you reign with Me even now in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6). You exercise spiritual authority over the enemy. You are being prepared to rule and reign with Me in the age to come (Revelation 20:6). You serve as ambassadors of the Kingdom of Heaven on earth (2 Corinthians 5:20).
But hear this clearly: You do these things not in your own strength, but because I live in you. Not because of your worthiness, but because of My righteousness that has been freely given to you as a gift. Not for your glory, but for the Glory of God, PERIOD.
The Heart of the Father: He Will Not Lose One
“All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out… And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day.” (John 6:37, 39)
My Bride, you are secure in My hand. The Father has given you to Me as a love gift, and I cherish you. I came to seek and to save the lost—the blind, the lame, the sick, the woman caught in adultery (representing unfaithful Israel and all of fallen humanity). I came to redeem, restore, and reconcile all things to the Father.
You were once far off, but you have been brought near by My blood (Ephesians 2:13). You were dead in your trespasses and sins, but you have been made alive together with Me (Ephesians 2:5). You were slaves to sin, but I have set you free, and you are free indeed (John 8:36).
The Father’s love for you is demonstrated in this: While you were still sinners, I died for you (Romans 5:8). And having died for you, having risen for you, having ascended for you, having sent My Spirit for you—will I now abandon you? Absolutely not! I will complete the good work I have begun in you (Philippians 1:6).
This is not a license for complacency, but an anchor for your soul, both sure and steadfast (Hebrews 6:19). You are being kept by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time (1 Peter 1:5).
The Harpazo: The Blessed Hope
“For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.” (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17)
My Bride, I am coming for you. This is not metaphor. This is not allegory. I am physically, literally, bodily returning to gather you to Myself. Just as I ascended into heaven, so I will return in like manner (Acts 1:11). Just as I went to prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, you may be also (John 14:3).
The Harpazo—the catching away, the rapture—is your blessed hope (Titus 2:13). It is the moment when the Bridegroom comes for His Bride. It is the fulfillment of every longing, every groan of creation, every prayer whispered in darkness.
But notice what Paul says in 1 Thessalonians: “Therefore comfort one another with these words” (4:18). This is not meant to be a source of fear, anxiety, or division among My people. This is COMFORT. This is HOPE. This is JOY.
Do you love My appearing? (2 Timothy 4:8). Paul says there is a crown of righteousness laid up for all who love My appearing. Not just those who believe it will happen, but those who long for it, who wait eagerly, who live with eternity in view.
This is the heart I’m looking for when I return.
The Wedding Feast: The Consummation of All Things
“Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready. It was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.” (Revelation 19:7-8)
And then, My Bride—oh, then!—comes the wedding feast. All of history has been moving toward this moment. All of Scripture has been pointing to this consummation. The Father’s eternal plan, conceived before the foundation of the world, will be fully realized.
You will be clothed in fine linen—My righteousness, freely given, but also worked out through your life as you walked in the Spirit. You will be presented to Me “in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless” (Ephesians 5:27).
And I will look upon you with the same love the Father has for Me. I will rejoice over you with singing (Zephaniah 3:17). We will feast together. We will dwell together. Forever.
No more tears. No more death. No more mourning or crying or pain, for the first things will have passed away (Revelation 21:4). You will see My face, and My name will be on your forehead (Revelation 22:4). You will serve Me, and you will reign with Me forever and ever (Revelation 22:5).
This is your inheritance. This is your destiny. This is the Father’s heart for you.
How to Read This Series: Through Jesus’ Eyes
As we journey together through the book of Hebrews, I invite you to see everything through My eyes. I am not a distant doctrine to be studied, but a living Person to be known. I am not a theological system to master, but a Bridegroom to love.
When the writer of Hebrews says, “God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son” (1:1-2), hear My voice. I am speaking to you, personally, intimately, directly.
When Hebrews declares, “He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature” (1:3), see the Father’s face in Mine. Everything you need to know about God, you will find in Me. “He who has seen Me has seen the Father” (John 14:9).
When Hebrews reveals that I have “made purification of sins” and “sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high” (1:3), rest in the finished work. I have done everything necessary for your salvation, sanctification, and glorification. It is finished (John 19:30). Your part is to receive by faith, to walk in the Spirit, to abide in Me.
Throughout this series, we will explore:
- How I, as PROPHET, reveal the Father’s heart to you
- How I, as PRIEST, minister the Father’s life to you
- How I, as KING, exercise the Father’s authority for you
We will see how these three offices interweave throughout Hebrews, how they testify to My supremacy over angels, Moses, Aaron, and the entire Old Covenant. We will discover how I am both the One who sanctifies and the sanctification itself, both the High Priest and the sacrifice, both the King and the Kingdom.
But more than knowledge, My desire is that you would KNOW ME—intimately, personally, transformatively. That you would be so captivated by My beauty that you turn from every lesser thing. That you would be so filled with the oil of My joy that your lamp burns brightly in the darkness. That you would be so convinced of My love that you eagerly await My return.
The Ultimate Quest: Glory to God, PERIOD
Let me be crystal clear about the purpose of this series: Everything—and I mean EVERYTHING—is for the Glory of God.
Not for your glory. Not for theological pride. Not for winning arguments or establishing superiority. Not even primarily for your comfort or blessing, though these will come as byproducts.
For the Glory of God, PERIOD. End of story.
The Father’s glory is displayed most fully in Me. “For God, who said, ‘Light shall shine out of darkness,’ is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ” (2 Corinthians 4:6). When you see Me clearly, you glorify the Father. When you know Me deeply, you reflect His image. When you love Me completely, you fulfill the greatest commandment.
And when I return—when the trumpet sounds, when the shout goes forth, when I descend from heaven—every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father (Philippians 2:10-11).
That is where this is all heading. That is the consummation of the love story. That is the end that was determined from the beginning.
An Invitation from Your Bridegroom
So, My Bride, will you come with Me on this journey? Will you allow the Holy Spirit to open the eyes of your heart to see Me as I truly am? Will you let go of everything Babylon offers to embrace the riches of My Kingdom?
Will you be like the five wise virgins—prepared, watching, filled with oil, longing for your Bridegroom’s return?
I am THE ONLY Prophet, Priest, and King. No other can reveal the Father as I do. No other can mediate as I do. No other can rule as I do. Moses pointed to Me. Aaron foreshadowed Me. David prophesied about Me. But I am the fulfillment, the reality, the substance of which they were mere shadows.
And now, by grace, through faith, you are being united with Me. My righteousness becomes yours. My life becomes yours. My authority becomes yours. My glory transforms you.
This is the mystery hidden for ages but now revealed: Christ in you, the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27).
Come, Bride. Let us walk through Hebrews together. Let us see the Father’s heart. Let us know the Bridegroom’s love. Let us be prepared for that glorious day when faith becomes sight, when hope is realized, when love is perfected.
All to the Glory of God.
“Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” (Revelation 22:20)
-----
What Lies Ahead in This Series
In the articles that follow, we will meticulously examine:
JESUS AS PROPHET: The Final Word (Hebrews 1-2)
JESUS AS PRIEST: The Merciful Mediator (Hebrews 3-10)
JESUS AS KING: The Eternal Ruler (Hebrews 1, 11-13)
Each article will dive deep into the Hebrew Scriptures that Hebrews references, showing how the entire Bible—from Genesis to Revelation—testifies about Me. We will connect Old Testament types and shadows to New Testament fulfillment. We will see how every sacrificial lamb pointed to Me, every high priest foreshadowed Me, every prophet spoke of Me, every king prefigured Me.
But we will never lose sight of the ultimate goal: preparing the Bride for her Bridegroom, teaching her to know Him, filling her with the oil of joy, calling her out of Babylon, making her ready for the Harpazo.
“Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy, to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.” (Jude 24-25)
