Making Disciples When Faith Is Illegal: Underground Christianity

The Great Commission Unchanged

King Jesus's command to make disciples did not vanish with the Rapture. It remains as binding and urgent today as it was when He first spoke these words to His disciples on a mountain in Galilee over 2,000 years ago. The context has changed dramatically, but the commission remains the same.

In Matthew 6:31-33, Jesus taught His followers to "seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." Even in the Great Tribulation—especially in the Great Tribulation—this principle holds true. Those who seek His kingdom first, who prioritize making disciples above their own survival, will find that God provides for their every need.

But here's the stunning truth that many don't realize: you won't be alone in this mission.

God's Supernatural Evangelism Team

In His infinite mercy and goodness, God has not left the Great Tribulation Saints to evangelize the world alone. He has prepared a supernatural evangelism team that will work alongside underground believers to bring about what could become the greatest revival in human history—the Great End Time Harvest.

The 144,000 Jewish Evangelists

Revelation 7 describes 144,000 Jewish believers—12,000 from each tribe of Israel—who will be sealed by God for protection and commissioned as His primary evangelists during the Tribulation. These are not ordinary men. They are described as:

Supernaturally protected: Sealed on their foreheads by God Himself

Perfectly pure: "No lie was found in their mouth; they are blameless" (Revelation 14:5)

Completely devoted: They "follow the Lamb wherever He goes" (Revelation 14:4)

Divinely empowered: Called "servants of our God" and "firstfruits to God and to the Lamb"

These 144,000 will crisscross the globe, preaching the Gospel with supernatural power and protection. They will be the primary evangelists reaching both their Jewish brethren and the nations of the world. Think of them as God's special forces—elite spiritual commandos equipped for the most dangerous evangelistic mission in history.

“These are the ones who have not been defiled with women, for they have kept themselves chaste. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These have been purchased from among men as first fruits to God and to the Lamb. And no lie was found in their mouth; they are blameless.” Revelation 14:4-5

The Two Witnesses

For the first half of the Tribulation, two supernatural witnesses will prophesy in Jerusalem for exactly 1,260 days (Revelation 11:3-12).

These mighty men of God—possibly Moses and Elijah, or Enoch and Elijah—will:

Prophesy truth in the very heart of the Antichrist's deception

Demonstrate God's power with miraculous signs that cannot be counterfeited

Call the world to repentance with messages that will "torment those who dwell on the earth"

Prove God's sovereignty by their supernatural protection until their mission is complete

When they are finally killed by the Beast, their resurrection and ascension in full view of the world will provide one final, undeniable proof of God's power over death itself.

“And I will grant authority to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for twelve hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.” Revelation 11:3

The Angel with the Everlasting Gospel

At the midpoint of the Tribulation, when persecution of believers reaches its peak, God will send an angel flying through the heavens with the everlasting Gospel (Revelation 14:6-7).

This angel will proclaim to "every nation and tribe and tongue and people":

“And I saw another angel flying in midheaven, having an eternal gospel to preach to those who live on the earth, and to every nation and tribe and tongue and people; and he said with a loud voice, ‘Fear God, and give Him glory, because the hour of His judgment has come; worship Him who made the heaven and the earth and sea and springs of waters.” Revelation 14:6-7

This ensures that Matthew 24:14 is fulfilled: "This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come."

Rely on Memory and Oral Teaching

Physical Bibles will be rare and dangerous to carry. You must memorize Scripture, tell the stories aloud, and teach others to pass them on word-for-word. The Word of God hidden in your heart cannot be confiscated.

Focus on Obedience, Not Information

In normal times, people collect teachings without applying them. In the Tribulation, every truth must be obeyed immediately. Knowledge without obedience becomes a death trap.

Multiply Leaders Quickly

Everyone you disciple should be equipped to disciple others within weeks, not years. Time is short, and the Beast's grip tightens daily. The goal is exponential multiplication, not gradual addition.

Teach Spiritual Disciplines for Endurance

Prayer, fasting, worship, forgiveness, and love for enemies are not "extras"—they are survival skills in the Kingdom. These disciplines will mean the difference between those who curse God in their suffering and those who sing hymns on the way to execution.

The Azovmena Model

Remember: God is not limited by the Antichrist's laws. His Spirit moves where He wills, and His Word cannot be chained (2 Timothy 2:9).

The Promise of the Harvest

Here's the breathtaking reality: the Great Tribulation, designed by Satan to destroy humanity, will become the greatest soul harvest in history. The very persecution meant to silence the Gospel will instead amplify it. The 144,000, the Two Witnesses, the Angel, and countless underground disciples will work together to fulfill the Great Commission on a scale never before witnessed.

This is the goodness of God on display. Even in judgment, His mercy flows. Even in wrath, His grace abounds. Even when the Bride has been taken, His love for the lost remains unchanged.

Your Mission: Disciples Making Disciples

This is why you disciple in secret. This is why you risk everything. This is why, even in the shadow of death, you keep going until the end.

Don't be left behind. In humility, surrender everything to King Jesus (Romans 12:1-2). Confess your sins, repent, and become a born-again believer filled with the Holy Spirit and love for the truth. Then don't just sit there—help! By faith, make disciples who make disciples.

For those who may be left behind, remember this: the Great Commission continues. Jesus will be with you always, even to the end of the age. And through His supernatural evangelism team and your faithful discipleship efforts, the Great Tribulation will become the Great End Time Harvest—a billion soul army prepared for the King's return.
