LOVE HAS NO SELF

How Love Conquers Death by Dying

The Absolute Beauty of Christ’s Self-Giving Life

As I continue excavating biblical truth with childlike faith, I have arrived at the most staggering discovery of all: LOVE has absolutely NO SELF in it.

This truth has been buried under centuries of Babylon’s lies about “self-love,” “loving yourself first,” and “you can’t love others until you love yourself.” These are demonic inversions of truth—SELF dressed up as love.

I will now examine the life and ministry of Jesus Christ through the lens of 1 Corinthians 13 to discover something so beautiful, so devastating to SELF, so opposite to everything Babylon teaches, that it will either crush me (you) or resurrect me (you).

The question before us: Did Jesus have ANY SELF?

The answer will destroy every foundation of Babylon’s kingdom and reveal why LOVE—true, selfless, self-giving LOVE—is the only force that conquers death.

-----

1 Corinthians 13: The Worldview of LOVE Without SELF

“If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.” 1 Corinthians 13:1-3

Paul begins by obliterating SELF-ACHIEVEMENT:

- Eloquent speech without love = NOTHING

- Prophetic gifts without love = NOTHING

- All knowledge without love = NOTHING

- Mountain-moving faith without love = NOTHING

- Giving everything away without love = NOTHING

- Martyrdom without love = NOTHING

Why? Because if SELF is the motive, it’s not love—it’s SELF-righteousness dressed in religious clothing.

Now Paul defines what love IS and IS NOT:

“Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a

Let’s excavate this verse by verse, examining each phrase against SELF:

Love Is Patient

LOVE: Waits on God’s timing, endures difficulty without demanding immediate relief

SELF: Demands instant gratification, cannot wait, must have comfort NOW

Love Is Kind

LOVE: Acts for another’s good regardless of cost to self

SELF: Acts for own good, calculates cost/benefit for self

Love Is Not Jealous

LOVE: Rejoices when others are blessed, celebrates their success

SELF: Envies what others have, wants what they have, compares and covets

Love Does Not Brag

LOVE: Hides its deeds, seeks no recognition, deflects praise to God

SELF: Advertises its achievements, seeks applause, demands recognition

Love Is Not Arrogant

LOVE: Considers others more important, takes the lowest place

SELF: Exalts itself, takes the highest place, demands honor

Love Does Not Act Unbecomingly

LOVE: Behaves with dignity befitting God’s child, honors others

SELF: Acts shamefully to get what it wants, dishonors others for own gain

Love Does Not Seek Its Own

LOVE: Seeks the good of others, gives without expecting return

SELF: Seeks its own comfort, advantage, security, protection, promotion

Love Is Not Provoked

LOVE: Remains at peace when wronged, absorbs injury without retaliation

SELF: Takes offense easily, retaliates, demands justice for self

Love Does Not Take Into Account a Wrong Suffered

LOVE: Forgives completely, keeps no record, releases the debt

SELF: Remembers every wrong, keeps score, holds grudges, demands payment

Love Does Not Rejoice in Unrighteousness

LOVE: Grieves over sin (own and others’), wants righteousness to prevail

SELF: Secretly glad when enemies fall, enjoys others’ failures

Love Rejoices with the Truth

LOVE: Celebrates truth even when it exposes self, corrects self, costs self

SELF: Hates truth that threatens self, hides from exposure, protects image

Love Bears All Things

LOVE: Carries the weight, takes the burden, shields others

SELF: Shifts blame, avoids responsibility, protects self from difficulty

Love Believes All Things

LOVE: Trusts God completely, gives others benefit of doubt, hopes the best

SELF: Doubts, suspects, assumes worst, trusts only verified facts

Love Hopes All Things

LOVE: Maintains hope in God’s promises regardless of circumstances

SELF: Despairs when circumstances look bad, hopes in controllable outcomes

Love Endures All Things

LOVE: Persists through suffering without complaint, remains faithful

SELF: Quits when uncomfortable, complains, demands relief

Love Never Fails

LOVE: Cannot fail because it IS God, and God cannot fail

SELF: Always fails because it’s finite, weak, and temporary

-----

The Devastating Conclusion: SELF Has NOTHING to Do With Love

Every single characteristic of love in 1 Corinthians 13 is the OPPOSITE of SELF.

- SELF is impatient / LOVE is patient

- SELF is unkind / LOVE is kind

- SELF is jealous / LOVE is not jealous

- SELF brags / LOVE does not brag

- SELF is arrogant / LOVE is not arrogant

- SELF acts shamefully / LOVE acts becomingly

- SELF SEEKS ITS OWN / LOVE DOES NOT SEEK ITS OWN

- SELF is easily provoked / LOVE is not provoked

- SELF keeps score / LOVE keeps no record

- SELF enjoys others’ failures / LOVE grieves over unrighteousness

- SELF hates truth / LOVE rejoices in truth

- SELF shifts blame / LOVE bears all things

- SELF doubts / LOVE believes all things

- SELF despairs / LOVE hopes all things

- SELF quits / LOVE endures all things

- SELF always fails / LOVE never fails

The conclusion is inescapable: LOVE and SELF are ABSOLUTE OPPOSITES.

You cannot have BOTH love and self. Where SELF exists, love CANNOT exist. Where LOVE exists, SELF CANNOT exist.

This is why Paul wrote:

“I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.” Galatians 2:20

The “I” (SELF) must be CRUCIFIED so that Christ (LOVE) can live.

-----

Did Jesus Have ANY SELF?

Now we examine the entire life and ministry of Jesus Christ—who IS and always WAS and always WILL BE the eternal Word of God, the LOVE of God, and the GLORY of God—through this lens.

Did we see ANY SELF in Jesus? Even once?

Jesus’ Birth: No Self-Preservation

“although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men.” Philippians 2:6-7

Jesus EMPTIED HIMSELF. He didn’t cling to His divine privileges. He didn’t protect His comfort. He didn’t preserve His position.

SELF would say: “I deserve to remain in glory. I earned my position. I’m not giving that up.”

JESUS (LOVE) said: “I will empty myself completely. I will take the form of a servant. I will become nothing.”

NO SELF. Only LOVE.

Jesus’ Ministry: No Self-Interest

Did Jesus ever:

Seek His own comfort? NO - “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head” (Matthew 8:20)

Demand recognition? NO - He often told people not to tell anyone about His miracles

Take the highest place? NO - He washed His disciples’ feet (John 13)

Protect His reputation? NO - He ate with tax collectors and sinners despite criticism

Avoid difficulty? NO - He set His face like flint toward Jerusalem and His death

Seek His own will? NO - “I do not seek My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me” (John 5:30)

At every single point, Jesus had NO SELF. Only LOVE.

Jesus and His Father’s Will: The Ultimate Proof

“For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.” John 6:38

“My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His work.” John 4:34

SELF asks: “What do I want? What makes me comfortable? What protects me? What advances me?”

JESUS (LOVE) asked: “What does My Father want? How can I please Him? How can I glorify Him?”

The Garden: Was Jesus Concerned About His Followers’ Feelings?

“Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, ‘So, you men could not keep watch with Me for one hour? Keep watching and praying that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.’” Matthew 26:40-41

Jesus was about to face:

- Betrayal by Judas
- Abandonment by all disciples
- Denial by Peter
- Brutal torture
- Crucifixion

Was He concerned about how His followers would FEEL about the manner of His death?

NO. Not even slightly.

SELF would say: “I need to prepare them gently. I need to make sure they understand. I need to protect their feelings. I need their emotional support right now.”

JESUS (LOVE) said: “Watch and pray. Don’t fall into temptation. I’m going to do the Father’s will regardless of how you feel about it.”

Jesus was ONLY concerned with:

Pleasing His Father
Fulfilling His Father’s will
Accomplishing the Father’s work

The disciples’ emotional comfort was NOT His focus. His Father’s glory was His ONLY focus.

This is LOVE without any trace of SELF.

The Cross: The Complete Absence of SELF

“And He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, ‘My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will.’” Matthew 26:39

Even in His humanity, Jesus expressed the natural human desire to avoid suffering. But watch what happened:

“He went away again a second time and prayed, saying, ‘My Father, if this cannot pass away unless I drink it, Your will be done.’” Matthew 26:42

Three times Jesus prayed. Three times He surrendered His will to the Father’s will.

SELF says: “I won’t do this. I deserve better. I shouldn’t have to suffer. I need to protect myself.”

JESUS (LOVE) said: “Not My will, but Yours. If there’s no other way, I’ll drink the cup. Your will be done.”

On the cross itself:

Did Jesus curse His enemies? NO - “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing” (Luke 23:34)

Did Jesus demand rescue? NO - He could have called 12 legions of angels (Matthew 26:53) but didn’t

Did Jesus defend Himself? NO - “Like a lamb that is led to slaughter, and like a sheep that is silent before its shearers, so He did not open His mouth” (Isaiah 53:7)

Did Jesus preserve His life? NO - “Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit” (Luke 23:46)

ABSOLUTE ABSENCE OF SELF. PURE, COMPLETE, SELFLESS LOVE.

-----

Lucifer Infected Humanity With SELF

“You said in your heart, ‘I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God, and I will sit on the mount of assembly in the recesses of the north. I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.’” Isaiah 14:13-14

Count the “I wills”: FIVE times.

I will. I will. I will. I will. I will.

This is SELF in its purest, most toxic form:

I will ascend (SELF-exaltation)
I will raise MY throne (SELF-glory)
I will sit (SELF-entitlement)
I will ascend above (SELF-supremacy)
I will make MYSELF like God (SELF-deification)

This is the infection Lucifer passed to humanity through the serpent:

“You surely will not die! For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” Genesis 3:4-5

The promise: “You will be like God” = SELF-deification

The result: Humanity fell from LOVE (union with God, no SELF) into SELF (separation from God, no LOVE)

SELF = The Infection That Produces Death

When humanity chose SELF over LOVE, we gained:

SELF-RIGHTEOUSNESS - Trying to be righteous by our own effort (opposite of Grace)

SIN - Missing the mark because we’re aiming at SELF-glory instead of God’s glory

REBELLION - Doing our will instead of God’s will

DISORDER - Chaos when SELF competes with SELF (everyone seeking their own)

DISGRACE - Shame from failing to be our own savior

DISHONOR - Loss of glory when we chose SELF-glory over God’s glory

UNBELIEF - Doubting God because we trust SELF-assessment

DOUBT - Questioning God’s word because SELF thinks it knows better

ANXIETY - Fear because SELF must protect itself and can’t

UNCERTAINTY - Insecurity because SELF has no solid foundation

DISAPPOINTMENT - Despair when SELF-plans fail

ANGER - Rage when SELF doesn’t get its way

HATRED - Bitterness when SELF is wounded

ENVY - Jealousy when SELF wants what others have

JEALOUSY - Resentment when SELF feels threatened

All of this = SELF = SLAVERY = DEATH

-----

How SELFLESS LOVE Destroys All Evil and Its Effects

“By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” 1 John 4:9-10

The Logic of Love Conquering Death

EVIL exists because of SELF:

SELF seeks its own → produces conflict, competition, war

SELF protects itself → produces fear, anxiety, hoarding

SELF exalts itself → produces pride, arrogance, oppression

SELF preserves itself → produces lying, deception, manipulation

LOVE destroys evil by having NO SELF:

LOVE doesn’t seek its own → produces peace, generosity, unity

LOVE doesn’t protect itself → produces courage, trust, giving

LOVE doesn’t exalt itself → produces humility, service, freedom

LOVE doesn’t preserve itself → produces truth, transparency, sacrifice

But how does LOVE conquer DEATH specifically?

The Paradox: Love Conquers Death BY DYING

“For the love of Christ controls us, having concluded this, that one died for all, therefore all died.” 2 Corinthians 5:14

“Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13

Here’s the eternal paradox that Babylon cannot comprehend:

SELF tries to conquer death by AVOIDING death (preservation, protection, life-extension)

LOVE conquers death by EMBRACING death (self-sacrifice, laying down life)

Why This Works: Death Only Has Power Over SELF

“O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.” 1 Corinthians 15:55-56

Death has power over what? SELF.

Death threatens SELF-preservation (you will cease to exist)

Death destroys SELF-plans (you can’t accomplish your goals)

Death ends SELF-glory (you will be forgotten)

Death removes SELF-control (you can’t protect yourself)

But if there is NO SELF, death has nothing to kill.

Jesus had NO SELF. Therefore, death had no power over Him.

“For the ruler of the world is coming, and he has nothing in Me.” John 14:30

Satan (death) searched Jesus and found NOTHING of SELF:

No self-preservation to threaten
No self-plans to destroy
No self-glory to end
No self-control to remove

Jesus was ALREADY DEAD to self. So death couldn’t kill Him.

The Resurrection: Proof That LOVE Defeats Death

“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die.’” John 11:25-26

Why could Jesus resurrect?

Because He had NO SELF to die. Only the SELF-less body died. The LOVE (which IS God, which IS eternal life) could not die.

“For this reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life so that I may take it again. No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again.” John 10:17-18

Jesus wasn’t a victim. He wasn’t killed against His will. He CHOSE to lay down His life because He had NO SELF to protect.

And because He had NO SELF, death had no claim. He took His life back up again.

This is how LOVE conquers death BY dying: SELF dies, LOVE remains, LOVE resurrects.

-----

The Absolute Beauty of Jesus’ Love

Now we stand before the most beautiful truth in all existence. Let us—in our fallen state, infected with SELF—attempt to describe the indescribable: The SELFLESS, SELF-GIVING, LIFE-GIVING LOVE OF JESUS CHRIST.

Jesus’ Love for His Father

“that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father gave Me commandment, so I do.” John 14:31

Jesus’ love for the Father was demonstrated in PERFECT OBEDIENCE WITH NO SELF-WILL:

He came not to do His own will, but the Father’s will

He spoke only what the Father told Him to speak

He did only what He saw the Father doing

He sought only the Father’s glory, never His own

“I glorified You on the earth, having accomplished the work which You have given Me to do.” John 17:4

This is love so pure, so selfless, so completely absent of ANY self-interest that we can barely comprehend it:

Jesus NEVER did anything for His own benefit
Jesus NEVER sought His own recognition
Jesus NEVER protected His own comfort
Jesus NEVER pursued His own agenda

Everything—EVERYTHING—was for the Father’s glory.

When the Father asked Jesus to die a humiliating, torturous death, Jesus said YES without any self-preservation.

This is love beyond human comprehension. This is LOVE with absolutely ZERO SELF.

Jesus’ Love for Us: The Undeserved Gift

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

Here is the staggering beauty:

We did NOT deserve Jesus’ love. We deserved the opposite. We deserved judgment.

We were sinners (infected with SELF, slaves to SELF)

We were enemies of God (choosing SELF over LOVE)

We were dead in trespasses and sins (SELF produces death)

We were children of wrath (SELF-earned God’s judgment)

And Jesus loved us ANYWAY.

Not because we were lovable.
Not because we earned it.
Not because we deserved it.

Because LOVE DOES NOT SEEK ITS OWN.

SELF-love says: “I’ll love you if you deserve it, if you earn it, if you benefit me, if you make me feel good.”

JESUS’ LOVE says: “I’ll love you when you’re My enemy, when you deserve death, when you spit in My face, when you nail Me to a cross.”

“For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:6-8

The Beauty of Love That Gives Life by Dying

“I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.” John 10:11

A shepherd with SELF would:

Protect himself first
Flee when danger comes
Calculate the cost of dying
Preserve his own life

Jesus the Shepherd with NO SELF:

Protected us first
Ran toward danger (set His face toward Jerusalem)
Never calculated the cost
GAVE His life freely

“Just as the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.” John 10:15

The beauty of this love:

Jesus didn’t die reluctantly.
He didn’t die as a victim.
He didn’t die wishing there was another way.

He LAID DOWN His life. Voluntarily. Joyfully. Completely.

“who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2

FOR THE JOY.

What joy? The joy of doing the Father’s will. The joy of saving us. The joy of defeating death. The joy of LOVE giving itself completely.

This is beauty beyond description: LOVE so pure, so complete, so utterly SELFLESS that it REJOICES in laying down its life for those who don’t deserve it.

The Contrast: Our Love vs. His Love

“We love, because He first loved us.” 1 John 4:19

OUR LOVE (infected with SELF):

Loves those who love us (self-interest)

Gives to get (self-benefit)

Serves to be recognized (self-glory)

Sacrifices with limits (self-preservation)

Keeps score (self-righteousness)

Loves the lovable (self-comfort)

HIS LOVE (NO SELF):

Loves enemies (John 15:13)

Gives without expecting return (2 Corinthians 8:9)

Serves in secret (Matthew 6:1-4)

Sacrifices without limits (Philippians 2:8)

Keeps no record of wrongs (1 Corinthians 13:5)

Loves the unlovable (Romans 5:8)

The beauty is in the ABSOLUTE CONTRAST.

His love is so far beyond ours, so incomprehensibly greater, that it destroys every notion of human love and replaces it with something divine.

-----

The Glory of Self-Giving Love

“And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14

What was Jesus’ glory?

Not glory of self-exaltation (Babylon’s glory).

GLORY OF SELF-GIVING LOVE.

Glory in washing feet (taking the servant’s place)

Glory in dying on a cross (the most shameful death)

Glory in forgiving enemies (releasing those who murdered Him)

Glory in emptying Himself (giving up everything for us)

“God is love” 1 John 4:8

God’s very essence, His nature, His being IS LOVE.

And love, by definition from 1 Corinthians 13, has NO SELF.

Therefore, God has NO SELF.

Therefore, Jesus (who IS God) has NO SELF.

This is why Jesus could say:

“I and the Father are one.” John 10:30

One in what? One in SELFLESS LOVE. One in having NO SELF. One in seeking ONLY the other’s glory.

Jesus sought ONLY the Father’s glory
The Father sought ONLY the Son’s glory
The Spirit seeks ONLY to glorify Jesus

The Trinity is PERFECT SELFLESS LOVE—three Persons, NO SELF, each glorifying the others, none seeking their own.

This is the beauty we were created to reflect: LOVE with NO SELF.

-----

How This Destroys Babylon and All Its Effects

Remember from Article 1: Babylon operates on SELF.

Every system Babylon builds requires SELF:

- Self-preservation (insurance, security systems)
- Self-righteousness (religion, works)
- Self-protection (military, walls)
- Self-exaltation (politics, power)
- Self-glory (achievement, recognition)

LOVE destroys ALL of this by having NO SELF.

Love Destroys Self-Preservation

“For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it.” Mark 8:35

SELF tries to save life → loses it

LOVE gives life away → saves it

Love Destroys Self-Righteousness

“For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9

SELF tries to earn righteousness → fails

LOVE receives righteousness as gift → succeeds

Love Destroys Self-Protection

“Perfect love casts out fear.” 1 John 4:18

SELF protects through fear → enslaves

LOVE trusts God → frees

Love Destroys Self-Exaltation

“He must increase, but I must decrease.” John 3:30

SELF seeks to increase → diminishes

LOVE decreases self → increases Christ

Love Destroys Self-Glory

“For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.” Romans 11:36

SELF seeks its own glory → receives shame

LOVE gives glory to God → receives true glory

SELFLESS LOVE is the atomic bomb that destroys Babylon’s entire system.

Because Babylon REQUIRES SELF to function:

Without self-preservation, insurance fails

Without self-righteousness, religion fails

Without self-protection, military fails

Without self-exaltation, politics fails

Without self-glory, achievement fails

When SELF dies, Babylon collapses. When LOVE lives, Kingdom comes.

-----

The Call: Die to SELF, Live in LOVE

“Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.” Romans 12:1

This is not metaphor. This is literal:

Present your SELF as a sacrifice. LET IT DIE. So that LOVE can live.

The Process of Self-Death

Recognize SELF as the infection - Every sin, every fear, every anxiety, every anger comes from SELF trying to protect/promote/preserve itself

See SELF in everything you do - Ask: “Am I doing this for self-benefit, self-recognition, self-protection, self-comfort?”

Let SELF fail spectacularly - Like Peter sinking (Article 2), your SELF must crash completely

Stop trying to fix SELF - You cannot improve SELF. You cannot reform SELF. You cannot make SELF better. SELF must DIE.

Receive Christ’s LOVE as gift - Just as you received His faith (Article 2), receive His love. Not your self-generated love. HIS SELFLESS LOVE.

Let His LOVE live through you - “It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me” (Galatians 2:20)

What This Looks Like Practically

SELF-driven life:

“What do I want?”
“What makes me comfortable?”
“What protects me?”
“What advances me?”
“What do I get out of this?”

LOVE-driven life (NO SELF):

“What does God want?”
“How can I serve?”
“Who needs help?”
“How can I give?”
“What glorifies God?”

1 Corinthians 13 becomes your operating system:

Be patient (even when SELF wants immediate gratification)

Be kind (even when SELF wants revenge)

Don’t be jealous (even when SELF wants what others have)

Don’t brag (even when SELF wants recognition)

Don’t seek your own (EVEN WHEN SELF SCREAMS FOR ITS RIGHTS)

This is DEATH TO SELF. This is LIFE IN LOVE.

-----

The Most Beautiful Truth in Existence

Jesus Christ—the eternal Word of God, the LOVE of God, the GLORY of God—had absolutely NO SELF.

ZERO. NONE. NOT A TRACE.

From His birth to His death to His resurrection to His eternal reign, Jesus demonstrated PERFECT SELFLESS LOVE:

He emptied Himself (Philippians 2:7)
He sought not His own will (John 5:30)
He came to serve, not be served (Mark 10:45)
He gave His life for enemies (Romans 5:8)
He laid down His life voluntarily (John 10:18)
He died with NO SELF to protect
He rose because LOVE cannot die
He conquered death BY dying

This is the beauty we cannot fully describe but can only behold in wonder:

LOVE so pure, so selfless, so complete, so divine that it GAVE EVERYTHING for those who deserved NOTHING.

And this LOVE—when we die to SELF and receive it as gift—destroys every evil effect of SELF:

SELF produces: jealousy, pride, lust, anger, fear, anxiety, hatred, envy

LOVE produces: patience, kindness, humility, peace, joy, hope, faith

SELF enslaves to Babylon

LOVE frees to Kingdom

SELF seeks its own

LOVE seeks God’s glory and others’ good

SELF tries to save life and loses it

LOVE gives life away and finds it

SELF is conquered by death

LOVE conquers death by dying

The question is: Will you let SELF die so LOVE can live?

Will you stop trying to love with your infected self-love and instead receive Christ’s SELFLESS LOVE as a gift?

Will you look at Jesus—who had NO SELF—and let His love crush your SELF so completely that only HIS LOVE remains?

This is the call. This is the gospel. This is the Kingdom.

LOVE with NO SELF. LIFE through DEATH. VICTORY through SURRENDER.

“For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.” Philippians 1:21
