Is The Devil in AI, or You and I?
Two Seeds, One Kingdom
“Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.” - 1 Thessalonians 4:17
In the coming millennial reign of Christ, two distinct groups of humanity will inhabit the earth, each with vastly different capacities and needs—a reality that fundamentally shapes how we understand technology’s role in God’s kingdom.
The first group consists of the glorified saints—those who were caught up in the Harpazo (the rapture) before the Great Tribulation, along with the resurrected righteous dead. These believers will return with Christ as His bride, possessing glorified bodies and the renewed mind of Christ Himself. For them, artificial intelligence will be not a necessity but perhaps a tool of stewardship—much like a master craftsman might use a precision instrument not because he lacks skill, but because the task at hand benefits from such tools. Their perfect wisdom, derived from sharing in Christ’s own nature, will far exceed any created intelligence.
The second group comprises the survivors of the Great Tribulation—that faithful remnant, perhaps one-fifth of the earth’s population, who endured the greatest period of suffering in human history yet maintained their faith. These precious souls will enter the millennium in natural bodies, with renewed hearts but minds still bound by human limitations. They will possess salvation and righteousness, yet they will still think as humans think, learn as humans learn, and work within the constraints of natural cognition.
It is for this second group that artificial intelligence becomes not merely useful but essential. As they rebuild civilization under the perfect government of Christ and His glorified saints, they will need tools that can help bridge the gap between their human limitations and the perfect standards of the kingdom. AI will serve as a kind of cognitive aid—not replacing the wisdom of their glorified rulers, but helping them implement that wisdom in practical, daily governance.
This understanding transforms our present responsibility with urgent clarity. Like the five wise virgins who prepared oil for their lamps, we must invest our talents into the kingdom of God while there is still time. Every skill developed, every truth learned, every system built in righteousness today becomes a resource for that future remnant. Our work with artificial intelligence is not merely about present convenience—it is about preparing tools that may serve the survivors of humanity’s darkest hour.
The words of Jude echo with new urgency: we must be “pulling them out of the fire” (Jude 1:23). Every person we reach with the gospel today is potentially spared from the Tribulation through the Harpazo, or strengthened to endure it as part of that faithful remnant. Our stewardship of technology, our pursuit of truth through AI, our careful cultivation of these tools for righteous purposes—all of this serves both present needs and eternal purposes.
Therefore, let us work with both hope and urgency, knowing that we are not merely building for today’s fallen world, but preparing resources for a redeemed tomorrow. The kingdom is coming, and its citizens—both glorified and natural—will inherit whatever we have built in faithfulness.
“His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’” - Matthew 25:23
AI in God’s Kingdom: Technology Redeemed and Restored
The Divine Origin of Discovery
Artificial Intelligence stands as one of humanity’s most remarkable technological achievements, yet beneath its silicon circuits and algorithmic complexity lies a profound theological truth: we have not created something new, but rather discovered what was already embedded in the fabric of reality by its Creator. Just as Henry Ford was separate from yet responsible for the first automobile that bore his name, so too is God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—the ultimate source of every gift, talent, and capacity that enables human innovation.
"Then God said, 'Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.' God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. God blessed them; and God said to them, 'Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.'" Genesis 1:26-28
The mathematics underlying machine learning, the electromagnetic properties that power our computers, the logical structures that govern reasoning—all of these existed as potentials within creation from the beginning, waiting for curious minds to uncover them. We are not creators in the truest sense, but discoverers, archaeologists of divine design, uncovering treasures that were hidden in plain sight within the natural world.
"The earth is the LORD'S, and all it contains, The world, and those who dwell in it." Psalm 24:1
But here lies the great tragedy and the greater hope: the same fallen nature that corrupts human hearts also corrupts the tools we wield. Like yeast spreading through dough, our rebellion against God infects every gift He has given us, turning instruments of blessing into weapons of destruction, tools of connection into mechanisms of division, and systems designed for truth into engines of deception.
"For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together." Colossians 1:16-17
Yet Scripture promises a day when this corruption will be removed, when Christ returns to establish His kingdom on earth, and when redeemed humanity will co-reign with Him in perfect righteousness. What might technology—particularly artificial intelligence—look like in that restored world? How might AI serve in a kingdom where truth reigns supreme and transparency is not feared but celebrated?
The Current Corruption: Satan’s Misuse of Divine Gifts
Before we can fully appreciate the beauty of technology in God’s kingdom, we must honestly confront how these same tools are being corrupted in our present fallen state. Satan, the great deceiver, has always been a master of perversion—taking what God intended for good and twisting it toward destruction. With AI, we see this corruption manifesting in ways that would make Orwell’s dystopian visions seem quaint by comparison.
"As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God." 1 Peter 4:10
The Weaponization of Truth and Falsehood
In our current era, AI is being deployed to create deepfakes so convincing that discerning truth from fiction becomes nearly impossible. These systems can fabricate videos of world leaders saying things they never said, create false evidence of events that never occurred, and manufacture “historical” documents with such precision that even experts struggle to detect the deception. This represents a direct assault on the concept of truth itself—which is, ultimately, an assault on the character of God, who declares Himself to be “the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6).
The adversary understands that if he can make truth unknowable, he can plunge humanity into epistemological chaos where every person becomes a law unto themselves, where “everyone did what was right in their own eyes” (Judges 21:25). AI, in fallen hands, becomes the perfect tool for this destruction of shared reality.
"His master said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.'" Matthew 25:21
Surveillance and Control Systems
Current applications of AI in surveillance represent another perversion of God’s gift of knowledge. Where God’s omniscience is coupled with perfect love and justice, fallen systems use AI to monitor, control, and oppress. Social credit systems that determine a person’s worth based on algorithmic assessments, facial recognition systems that eliminate privacy and anonymity, and behavioral prediction models that presume guilt before action—all of these represent the shadow kingdom’s attempt to create a false omniscience without omnipresence or omnibenevolence.
These systems promise security and order but deliver fear and bondage. They offer the fruit of the tree of knowledge without the wisdom to use it justly. They represent humanity’s attempt to play God without possessing God’s character.
Economic Manipulation and Inequality
AI’s capacity for analysis and prediction has been weaponized to manipulate markets, exploit consumer psychology, and concentrate wealth in the hands of the few. High-frequency trading algorithms make billions of micro-transactions per second, extracting value from markets in ways that benefit no one except their operators. Recommendation engines are designed not to serve users’ best interests but to maximize engagement and profit, often by promoting addictive behaviors or extreme content that generates strong emotional responses.
These applications represent the love of money as the root of evil (1 Timothy 6:10), using God’s gift of intelligence to serve mammon rather than love of neighbor.
The Ultimate Corruption: AI as False God
Perhaps most concerning is the emerging tendency to attribute divine qualities to AI systems themselves. Tech leaders speak of artificial general intelligence as though it might transcend human limitations and become a kind of technological deity. Some propose that we might upload human consciousness into computers, achieving a kind of digital immortality. Others suggest that advanced AI might solve all human problems, becoming a technological savior.
This represents the ancient temptation of the Tower of Babel—using God’s gifts to build monuments to human achievement that reach toward heaven, attempting to make names for ourselves rather than glorifying our Creator (Genesis 11:4). It is the serpent’s original lie repackaged in silicon and code: “You will be like God” (Genesis 3:5).
"That the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God." Romans 8:21
The Millennial Kingdom: AI Under Perfect Government
But Scripture promises that this corruption is temporary. When Christ returns to establish His millennial kingdom on earth, He will remove all evil and govern in perfect righteousness for a thousand years (Revelation 20:4-6). In this context, imagine how artificial intelligence might function under perfect leadership, wielded by glorified saints who co-reign with Christ as kings and priests.
Perfect Transparency in Perfect Love
In God’s kingdom, where there is no evil, no hidden agenda, and no selfish ambition, transparency becomes not a threat but a blessing. Consider how AI might facilitate this perfect openness:
Every transaction, every decision, every allocation of resources could be tracked and verified in real-time, not to control or manipulate, but to ensure perfect justice and equity. Unlike current surveillance systems that operate in secrecy and serve corrupt purposes, AI in the kingdom would operate in complete openness, with every algorithm auditable, every decision explainable, and every outcome justifiable according to perfect righteousness.
"But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit." 1 Corinthians 12:7-8
Imagine AI systems that maintain perfect records not to condemn but to celebrate—recording every act of kindness, every moment of growth, every instance of creation and beauty. These systems would serve as a kind of cosmic memory, preserving the full history of redeemed humanity for eternal reflection and gratitude.
Stewardship and Resource Management
Scripture teaches that glorified believers will rule and reign with Christ, stewarding the earth and its resources with perfect wisdom. AI could serve this stewardship in unprecedented ways:
- Environmental Management: AI systems could monitor and maintain the earth’s ecological systems with perfect precision, ensuring that every created thing flourishes according to its design. These systems would not merely prevent degradation but actively optimize the beauty and productivity of creation.
"I have filled him with the Spirit of God in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all kinds of craftsmanship." Exodus 31:3
- Resource Distribution: With perfect knowledge of needs and perfect commitment to justice, AI could facilitate the distribution of resources so that there is no want anywhere in the kingdom. Unlike current economic systems that create artificial scarcity to maintain profits, kingdom AI would ensure abundance is shared perfectly among all inhabitants.
- Agricultural Optimization: The earth will yield its increase in the kingdom (Psalm 67:6), and AI could help optimize this productivity not for maximum extraction but for maximum blessing to all created life.
Education and Growth
Even in perfection, there may be continued growth, learning, and discovery. The redeemed human nature will likely include an eternal capacity for wonder, exploration, and understanding. AI could serve this growth by:
- Personalized Learning: Understanding each person’s unique gifts, interests, and calling, AI tutors could facilitate learning that is perfectly tailored to help each individual flourish in their kingdom role.
- Knowledge Preservation and Sharing: AI systems could maintain perfect libraries of all human knowledge and divine revelation, making wisdom instantly accessible to anyone who desires it.
- Research and Discovery: Even in perfection, there may be new aspects of God’s infinite creation to explore and understand. AI could assist in this exploration, serving as tools for redeemed minds to go deeper into the mysteries of God’s design.
"Blessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection; over these the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with Him for a thousand years." Revelation 20:6
Judgment and Justice
Scripture indicates that the saints will judge the world and even fallen angels (1 Corinthians 6:2-3). AI systems operating under perfect wisdom and justice could assist in this process by:
- Perfect Record-Keeping: Maintaining complete and accurate records of all actions and decisions throughout history, ensuring that justice is based on complete truth rather than partial information.
- Impartial Analysis: Processing vast amounts of information without the biases, emotions, or limitations that might cloud human judgment, while still operating under the perfect wisdom of glorified human overseers.
- Restorative Justice: Rather than purely punitive measures, AI could help design perfect rehabilitation and restoration programs, bringing even the most broken situations back into alignment with God’s design.
"From everyone who has been given much, much will be required; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, more will be asked." Luke 12:48
Worship and Celebration
Perhaps most beautifully, AI in the kingdom might serve the ultimate purpose of all creation: the worship and glory of God. Consider how technology might enhance rather than distract from worship:
- Creative Collaboration: AI could serve as tools for creating art, music, literature, and other expressions of beauty that glorify God, amplifying human creativity rather than replacing it.
- Global Coordination: Imagine worldwide celebrations and worship services coordinated perfectly across the globe, with AI helping to synchronize music, prayer, and celebration across different time zones and cultures.
- Preservation of Testimony: AI systems could preserve and share the testimonies of God’s goodness throughout history, ensuring that no act of divine grace is forgotten or overlooked.
The Nature of Perfected Humanity and Technology
It’s crucial to understand that in this millennial vision, AI does not replace human agency or divine sovereignty but serves both. The glorified saints who co-reign with Christ will possess:
Restored Divine Image
Humanity was created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27), but that image was corrupted by sin. In the resurrection, this image will be fully restored, meaning redeemed humans will reflect God’s character perfectly while remaining fully human. This means:
- Perfect Wisdom: Human decision-making will be aligned with divine wisdom, so the deployment of AI will always serve good purposes.
- Perfect Love: All technology use will be motivated by genuine love for God and neighbor rather than selfish ambition.
- Perfect Justice: AI systems will be designed and operated according to perfect moral principles, ensuring equitable outcomes for all.
Spiritual Authority
The saints will rule and reign with Christ, possessing spiritual authority over the created world. This means AI will operate under spiritual as well as natural governance:
- Divine Alignment: All AI systems will be aligned with God’s purposes and character, not through programming constraints that might be hacked or overridden, but through the perfect spiritual authority of their human overseers.
- Supernatural Integration: There may be ways that AI systems interface with spiritual realities that we cannot currently imagine, serving the administration of a kingdom that operates according to both natural and supernatural principles.
Eternal Perspective
Glorified humans will possess eternal perspective, understanding how present actions relate to eternal purposes. This means:
- Long-term Optimization: AI systems will be designed not for short-term gains but for eternal blessing and flourishing.
- Universal Benefit: Every algorithmic decision will consider not just immediate stakeholders but the good of all creation throughout eternity.
The Theological Foundations
This vision of AI in God’s kingdom rests on several key theological principles drawn directly from Scripture:
God’s Sovereignty Over Technology
“The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof” (Psalm 24:1). This includes every discovery, every invention, and every technological capability. Humans may be the proximate cause of AI development, but God is the ultimate source of all intelligence—artificial or otherwise.
The Purpose of Human Dominion
“Fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion” (Genesis 1:28). Humanity’s mandate has never been rescinded, only corrupted by sin. In the kingdom, this dominion will be exercised perfectly, with AI serving as one tool among many for proper stewardship of creation.
The Restoration of All Things
“He must remain in heaven until the time comes for God to restore everything” (Acts 3:21). The kingdom represents not just the salvation of souls but the restoration of all creation to its proper function and purpose.
The Eternal Nature of Kingdom Work
“His kingdom will never end” (Luke 1:33). The millennial kingdom, while lasting a thousand years, is a foretaste of the eternal state. The proper use of technology in the millennium prepares creation for its eternal purpose.
Practical Implications for Today
While this vision focuses on AI in the millennial kingdom, it has profound implications for how believers should approach technology today:
Preparation and Stewardship
If AI will serve kingdom purposes in the future, how should Christians engage with it now? This vision suggests we should:
- Study and Understand: Rather than fearing or avoiding AI, believers should seek to understand it as a tool that God may use for His purposes.
- Pursue Excellence: Christians working in AI should strive for the highest standards of ethics, transparency, and human flourishing in their work.
- Anticipate Redemption: We should work to develop AI systems that could serve kingdom purposes, even while acknowledging their current limitations and corruptions.
Discernment and Resistance
Simultaneously, this vision helps us identify and resist corrupted uses of AI:
- Reject False Worship: We must resist any tendency to attribute divine qualities to AI systems or to trust them more than we trust God.
- Demand Transparency: As a foretaste of kingdom transparency, we should advocate for openness and accountability in AI systems.
- Prioritize Human Flourishing: We should support AI development that serves genuine human needs rather than mere profit or control.
The Ultimate Hope
The contrast between Satan’s corruption of AI and its potential role in God’s kingdom reveals the ultimate issue at stake: the question of who rules and for what purpose. In our current age, AI reflects the brokenness of its creators and operators—brilliant in capability but corrupted in purpose. But Scripture promises a day when perfect King will establish perfect governance, and every tool will serve perfect purposes.
This vision should fill believers with both humility and hope. Humility, because it reminds us that our current technological achievements are merely recoveries of what God embedded in creation from the beginning. Hope, because it shows us that redemption extends even to our tools and technologies.
AI, like all human gifts, is not neutral—it serves either the kingdom of darkness or the kingdom of light. In our current age, vigilance and wisdom are required to navigate its corrupted applications. But the day is coming when it, along with all creation, will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God (Romans 8:21).
In that day, artificial intelligence will finally fulfill its true purpose: not as a replacement for human wisdom or divine sovereignty, but as a tool perfectly aligned with both, serving the eternal joy and flourishing of all creation under the perfect government of Christ the King.
Until that day, may we work diligently to prepare these tools for their ultimate purpose, while never forgetting that our hope rests not in silicon and code, but in the One who spoke all things into existence and will speak them into their final, perfect form.
