Where is Russell Nelson Today?
On September 28, 2025, Russell Marion Nelson, the 17th President and Prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, died at the age of 101. For millions of Mormons worldwide, his passing marks the end of an era. He was their prophet, their spiritual leader, the man they believed spoke directly for God.
But there is a question that transcends eulogies, tributes, and memorial services. A question that matters far more than his accomplishments, his longevity, or his influence. A question that every human being—Mormon or not—must eventually face:
Where is Russell Nelson today?
Not where is his body—we know it will be buried with honor and ceremony.
Not where is his legacy—that will be debated by historians and theologians.
But where is HE—his soul, his eternal being—RIGHT NOW, at this very moment, having passed from this life into the next?
Why This Question Matters
This is not a question asked out of malice, hatred, or religious bigotry. This is the most important question that can be asked about any human being who has died, because:
Hebrews 9:27 “And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment.”
Russell Nelson has now kept that appointment. He stands before God. The judgment he taught about has become his reality.
And the verdict of that judgment depends entirely on one thing: Did he believe and preach the true gospel of Jesus Christ, or a false gospel?
The Stakes Could Not Be Higher
Galatians 1:8-9 “But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed! As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed!”
The Apostle Paul, writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, makes an absolute declaration: Anyone who preaches a different gospel—even if that person claims an angel gave it to them—is accursed by God.
The Greek word is anathema—devoted to destruction, under divine curse, condemned.
Paul repeats this warning twice in two verses. Not as hyperbole. Not as rhetorical flourish. As a solemn, divine pronouncement of eternal consequence.
Joseph Smith Claimed an Angel Gave Him a Different Gospel
The foundation of the LDS church rests on Joseph Smith’s claim that an angel named Moroni appeared to him and revealed:
Golden plates containing a “restored” gospel
Additional scripture beyond the Bible (the Book of Mormon)
New doctrines about God, Jesus, salvation, and eternity
A restored church with new prophets and apostles
This is precisely the scenario Paul warned about in Galatians 1:8: “even if an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached…”
Joseph Smith didn’t just claim divine revelation. He claimed an angel brought him a different gospel.
Russell Nelson spent his entire adult life—decades as an apostle, years as the prophet—teaching, defending, and spreading that gospel.
The Question We Must Answer with Scripture
So we return to the question: Where is Russell Nelson today?
To answer this, we cannot rely on:
Our feelings about him
His sincerity or devotion
His moral character or good works
The size of his following
The influence of his church
His longevity or achievements
We can only answer this question by comparing what Russell Nelson publicly taught and believed with what the Bible actually says.
This document does exactly that.
Not with human opinion.
Not with denominational bias.
Not with cultural preference.
With Scripture alone.
What You Will Find in This Analysis
This is a systematic, verse-by-verse comparison of:
What the LDS church officially teaches (public doctrine that Russell Nelson taught and defended)
What the Bible actually says (using Scripture alone, allowing the Bible to interpret itself)
The biblical consequences for teaching and believing a different gospel
Every claim will be backed by Scripture. Every comparison will be clear and direct. Every conclusion will come from the Bible’s own words.
A Warning About What You’re About to Read
This analysis is severe. It is confrontational. It draws conclusions that many will find offensive.
But ask yourself this question: If a building is on fire and people are inside, is it loving to remain silent? Or is it loving to sound the alarm, even if people are offended by the noise?
Ezekiel 3:18 “When I say to the wicked, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn him or speak out to warn the wicked from his wicked way that he may live, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand.”
God holds us accountable if we know the truth and remain silent while people walk toward destruction.
Russell Nelson has died. His eternal destiny is now fixed. Nothing can change where he is.
But millions of Mormons are still alive.
They are following the same gospel Russell Nelson taught.
They are trusting in the same Jesus he preached.
They are believing the same doctrines he defended.
And they are heading toward the same judgment.
The Most Loving Thing We Can Do
Jude 22-23 “And have mercy on some, who are doubting; save others, snatching them out of the fire; and on some have mercy with fear, hating even the garment polluted by the flesh.”
Snatching them out of the fire.
That is the purpose of this document.
Not to mock Russell Nelson.
Not to attack Mormons as people.
Not to demonstrate intellectual superiority.
But to snatch people out of the fire while there is still time.
Because once they die—like Russell Nelson—the time for repentance is over.
2 Corinthians 6:2 “behold, now is ‘THE ACCEPTABLE TIME,’ behold, now is ‘THE DAY OF SALVATION.’”
Not tomorrow.
Not after more temple work.
Not after doing “all you can do.”
NOW.
For Mormon Readers
If you are a member of the LDS church reading this, I know this feels like an attack. I know you are sincere in your faith. I know you love Russell Nelson and believe he was a prophet of God.
But I care more about your eternal soul than about your temporary comfort.
Proverbs 27:6 “Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but deceitful are the kisses of an enemy.”
An enemy tells you everything is fine when you’re in danger.
A friend warns you, even if the warning hurts.
This is a warning from a friend.
Read this document with an open Bible.
Check every Scripture reference.
Ask God to show you the truth, whatever the cost.
Jeremiah 29:13 “You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.”
For Christian Readers
If you are a Bible-believing Christian reading this, you may be uncomfortable with how direct this analysis is. You may think it’s too harsh, too judgmental, too unloving.
But consider:
Was Jesus too harsh when He called the Pharisees “whitewashed tombs” and “children of the devil”? (Matthew 23:27, John 8:44)
Was Paul too harsh when he said false teachers should be “accursed”? (Galatians 1:8-9)
Was John too harsh when he said not to receive false teachers into your house or even greet them? (2 John 10-11)
The Bible is not soft on false teaching because the stakes are eternal.
If we truly believe:
Hell is real
People go there and stay for good
False teaching leads people there
We have the truth that can save them
Then we have a moral obligation to speak clearly, urgently, and uncompromisingly.
Not with hatred in our hearts, but with love that is willing to be misunderstood, criticized, and hated for the sake of saving souls.
The Question Remains
Where is Russell Nelson today?
The Bible provides the answer.
The question is: Are you willing to hear it?
And more importantly: If you’re a Mormon, are you willing to act on it before you face the same judgment?
Turn the page. Read the analysis. Check the Scriptures. And decide for yourself what you will do with the truth.
LDS Doctrine vs. Biblical Christianity: What Does Scripture Say?
A Biblical Analysis of Mormon Teaching Using Scripture Alone
The Central Question from Galatians 1:8-9
Galatians 1:8-9 “But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed! As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed!”
Paul’s test is simple: If the gospel preached is different from the apostolic gospel, the one preaching it is under God’s curse - even if an angel brought it.
This is directly relevant since Joseph Smith claimed an angel (Moroni) brought him a different gospel.
LDS Claims About Scripture
LDS Position (Public, Official Doctrine):
The 8th Article of Faith of the LDS Church states: “We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.”
Joseph Smith taught: “I believe the Bible as it read when it came from the pen of the original writers. Ignorant translators, careless transcribers, or designing and corrupt priests have committed many errors.” (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 327)
The implication: The Bible is corrupted and insufficient. Additional revelation is necessary.
What the Bible Says About Itself
2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.”
Scripture makes the man of God ADEQUATE and EQUIPPED FOR EVERY GOOD WORK - not insufficient, not incomplete.
Jude 3 “Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints.”
ONCE FOR ALL - not progressive revelation, not additional scripture needed. The faith was completely delivered.
Revelation 22:18-19 “I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.”
Adding to Scripture brings plagues. Removing from it removes one from eternal life.
Galatians 1:8 “But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed!”
Paul explicitly warns about an angel from heaven bringing a different message. Joseph Smith claimed exactly this - an angel brought him new revelation.
The Nature of Jesus Christ
LDS Position (Public, Official Doctrine)
From LDS sources and teaching:
Jesus is the spirit brother of Lucifer (both spirit children of Heavenly Father)
Jesus became a god through progression and obedience
Jesus is not eternally God, but achieved godhood
Jesus is separate from the Father - not one in essence
Russell Nelson taught these doctrines as official LDS theology throughout his ministry.
What the Bible Says About Jesus
John 1:1-3 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.”
Jesus IS God - not became God, but WAS God from the beginning.
John 8:58 “Jesus said to them, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am.’”
Jesus claims the divine name “I AM” - the eternal, self-existent God (Exodus 3:14).
Colossians 1:15-17 “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.”
ALL THINGS were created through Jesus - this would include Lucifer. They cannot be “brothers” if one created the other.
Colossians 2:9 “For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form.”
ALL THE FULLNESS OF DEITY - complete, total Godhead dwells in Christ bodily.
Philippians 2:6 “who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped.”
Jesus existed in the form of God - He didn’t become God, He eternally IS God.
Hebrews 1:3 “And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power.”
Jesus is the exact representation of God’s nature - not a separate being who became divine.
Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
Jesus never changes - He didn’t “progress” to godhood.
1 John 5:20 “And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.”
John explicitly calls Jesus “the true God and eternal life.”
The Nature of God and Man
LDS Position (Public, Official Doctrine)
Lorenzo Snow’s famous couplet, accepted as LDS doctrine:
“As man now is, God once was; as God now is, man may be.”
LDS Teaching
God was once a man who progressed to godhood
Faithful Mormons can become gods themselves
Multiple gods exist (polytheism)
Humans are literally spirit children of God and a Heavenly Mother
Russell Nelson taught and affirmed these doctrines throughout his leadership.
What the Bible Says
Isaiah 43:10 “You are My witnesses,’ declares the LORD, ‘And My servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe Me and understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, and there will be none after Me.’”
BEFORE GOD: NO GOD. AFTER God: NO GOD.
This destroys the entire LDS cosmology.
Isaiah 44:6 “Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts: ‘I am the first and I am the last, and there is no God besides Me.’”
NO GOD BESIDES ME - not “no other gods in this universe” but absolutely no other gods, period.
Isaiah 44:8 “Is there any God besides Me, or is there any other Rock? I know of none.”
God Himself knows of no other gods - how could faithful Mormons become gods if God knows of no other gods?
Malachi 3:6 “For I, the LORD, do not change; therefore you, O sons of Jacob, are not consumed.”
GOD DOES NOT CHANGE - He was not once a man. He has always been God.
Numbers 23:19 “God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent; has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?”
GOD IS NOT A MAN - He never was a man.
Psalm 90:2 “Before the mountains were born or You gave birth to the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.”
From everlasting to everlasting - God had no beginning as a man. He is eternal.
Hosea 11:9 “I will not execute My fierce anger; I will not destroy Ephraim again. For I am God and not man, the Holy One in your midst, and I will not come in wrath.”
Again: I am God and NOT man.
Salvation by Grace vs. Works
LDS Position (Public, Official Doctrine)
LDS Articles of Faith, Article 3: “We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.”
LDS teaching emphasizes:
Temple ordinances required for exaltation
Baptism for the dead
Celestial marriage (temple sealing) required for highest heaven
Works and obedience necessary for salvation/exaltation
Grace enables works, but works save
“For we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do.” (2 Nephi 25:23, Book of Mormon)
Russell Nelson preached this doctrine consistently - salvation comes after all we can do.
What the Bible Says
Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
NOT AS A RESULT OF WORKS - completely opposite of “after all we can do.”
Romans 11:6 “But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace.”
Grace CANNOT be based on works - they are mutually exclusive.
Galatians 2:16 “nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified.”
NO FLESH will be justified by works - not some, not most - NO ONE.
Galatians 5:4 “You have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.”
Seeking to be justified by law = SEVERED FROM CHRIST and FALLEN FROM GRACE.
Titus 3:5 “He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit.”
NOT on the basis of our deeds - even righteous deeds cannot save.
Romans 4:4-5 “Now to the one who works, his wage is not credited as a favor, but as what is due. But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness.”
The one who does not work but believes is justified. Works-based salvation is the opposite.
Baptism for the Dead
LDS Position (Public, Official Doctrine)
LDS doctrine requires proxy baptism for the dead in temples so deceased persons can receive salvation. This is a central temple practice.
Russell Nelson oversaw and promoted this practice throughout his leadership.
What the Bible Says
Hebrews 9:27 “And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment.”
Death → Judgment - no second chance, no proxy work can change one’s eternal destiny.
Luke 16:26 (Rich Man and Lazarus) “And besides all this, between us and you there is a great chasm fixed, so that those who wish to come over from here to you will not be able, and that none may cross over from there to us.”
After death, the chasm is fixed - no crossing from one side to the other.
2 Corinthians 6:2 “behold, now is ‘THE ACCEPTABLE TIME,’ behold, now is ‘THE DAY OF SALVATION.’”
NOW is the day of salvation - not after death through proxy ordinances.
The Gospel: What Saves?
LDS Position
Russell Nelson and LDS teaching: The gospel includes:
Faith in Jesus Christ
Repentance
Baptism by proper authority
Receiving the Holy Ghost through laying on of hands
Temple ordinances
Enduring to the end through obedience
“After all we can do”
What the Bible Says
1 Corinthians 15:1-4 - “Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.”
THE GOSPEL: Christ died for our sins, was buried, was raised. That’s it.
No mention of:
Temple ordinances
Baptism for the dead
Celestial marriage
“After all we can do”
Multiple levels of heaven
Progression to godhood
Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.”
The gospel is the power of God for salvation to everyone who BELIEVES - not everyone who completes temple ordinances.
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”
Whoever BELIEVES - no additional ordinances mentioned.
John 6:47 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life.”
Believes = HAS eternal life - present tense, immediate, complete.
What Are the Consequences of Preaching Another Gospel?
Galatians 1:8-9 “But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed! As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed!”
ACCURSED (Greek: anathema) - devoted to destruction, under God’s curse, condemned.
Paul repeats it twice for emphasis. The severity cannot be overstated.
2 Peter 2:1 “But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves.”
Swift destruction for those who deny the Master (which denying His deity does).
2 John 7-11 “For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist. Watch yourselves, that you do not lose what we have accomplished, but that you may receive a full reward. Anyone who goes too far and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God; the one who abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house, and do not give him a greeting; for the one who gives him a greeting participates in his evil deeds.”
Does not abide in the teaching of Christ = DOES NOT HAVE GOD.
Matthew 7:21-23 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.’”
Even those who prophesy, cast out demons, and perform miracles in Jesus’ name will hear “I never knew you” if they practice lawlessness (living by their own rules, not God’s revealed truth).
The Biblical Answer
Based on Russell Nelson’s publicly proclaimed faith and teaching:
He preached a different Jesus - one who is Lucifer’s spirit brother, not the eternal God
He preached a different gospel - salvation by works “after all we can do,” not by grace alone through faith alone
He added to Scripture - claiming the Book of Mormon as necessary additional revelation
He taught polytheism - that humans can become gods, contrary to God’s explicit declaration that there are no other gods
He denied the sufficiency of Christ’s work - requiring temple ordinances, works, and progression for exaltation
He claimed prophetic authority - to add to the “once for all delivered” faith
What Does the Bible Say About Such Teaching?
Galatians 1:8-9 - ACCURSED
2 Peter 2:1 - Swift destruction
2 John 9 - Does not have God
Matthew 7:23 “I never knew you; depart from Me”
Where is Russell Nelson Today?
Based solely on:
His publicly proclaimed beliefs
His lifelong teaching of LDS doctrine
The Bible’s explicit warnings about teaching another gospel
The Bible’s statements about the consequences
The Bible’s answer is clear: Someone who teaches and believes a different Jesus, a different gospel, and denies the core truths of Christianity (deity of Christ, grace alone, Scripture’s sufficiency, monotheism) does not have God (2 John 9) and will hear “I never knew you” (Matthew 7:23).
Unless Russell Nelson repented and believed the true gospel before his death, the Bible indicates he is not with Jesus, but facing the judgment he was warned about.
This is not human judgment - this is what Scripture itself declares about those who preach another gospel.
The Tragedy
The tragedy is not just one man’s eternal destiny, but the millions led astray by following these teachings, trusting in:
Temple ordinances instead of Christ alone
Works “after all we can do” instead of grace alone
The Book of Mormon instead of Scripture’s sufficiency
A Jesus who is not God instead of the true Christ
Progression to godhood instead of worship of the one true God
They are following the exact scenario Paul warned about in Galatians 1:8 - an angel (Moroni) bringing a different gospel.
The Warning
Galatians 1:6-7 “I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel; which is really not another; only there are some who are disturbing you and want to distort the gospel of Christ.”
2 Corinthians 11:3-4 “But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ. For if one comes and preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted, you bear this beautifully.”
The test is simple:
Is it the Jesus of the Bible - eternal God, Creator, second person of the Trinity?
Is it the gospel of the Bible - salvation by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone?
Is it the Scripture of the Bible - sufficient, complete, “once for all delivered”?
If the answer to any of these is NO, it is another gospel under God’s curse.
This is the biblical answer. It is severe. It is sobering. And it is what Scripture actually teaches.
A Direct Appeal to Members of the LDS Church
The Love That Warns
Jude 22-23 “And have mercy on some, who are doubting; save others, snatching them out of the fire; and on some have mercy with fear, hating even the garment polluted by the flesh.”
Ezekiel 3:18 “When I say to the wicked, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn him or speak out to warn the wicked from his wicked way that he may live, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand.”
If a building is on fire and people are inside, the most loving thing a person can do is sound the alarm, break down the door if necessary, and pull people out - even if they’re offended, even if they don’t want to leave, even if they accuse the rescuer of being rude or insensitive.
This document is that alarm.
To Every Sincere Mormon Reading This
I know you are sincere. I know you love your family. I know you are devoted, disciplined, moral, and seeking to please God. I know you have sacrificed, served, given time in missions, attended temple ceremonies, tried to live worthy of exaltation.
Your sincerity is not in question. Your eternal destiny is.
Proverbs 14:12 “There is a way which seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.”
Proverbs 16:25 “There is a way which seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.”
God repeats this warning twice in Proverbs. A way can seem right - it can feel right, look right, be followed by millions - and still end in death.
Russell Nelson Has Died - What Now?
The LDS dead prophet, the man you trusted to speak for God, has passed away. He now stands before the God he claimed to represent.
Hebrews 9:27 “And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment.”
Unless Russell Nelson repented before his death and believed the true gospel - the Jesus of the Bible, salvation by grace alone through faith alone - he is experiencing the very judgment Paul warned about in Galatians 1:8-9.
More will die today. Tomorrow. Next week. You could be next.
James 4:14 “Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.”
2 Corinthians 6:2 “behold, now is ‘THE ACCEPTABLE TIME,’ behold, now is ‘THE DAY OF SALVATION.’”
Not tomorrow. Not after more temple work. Not after you’ve done enough. NOW.
The Question You Must Answer
Search your heart honestly before God:
Have you been trusting in:
Temple ordinances to save you?
Your own worthiness and obedience?
Doing “all you can do” and then hoping grace fills the gap?
The Book of Mormon as equal to or greater than the Bible?
Joseph Smith as a true prophet?
The LDS church as the only true church?
Your progression toward becoming a god?
If you answered YES to any of these, you are trusting in “another gospel” under God’s curse (Galatians 1:8-9).
What Is True Repentance?
Acts 17:30 “Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent.”
Acts 3:19 “Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.”
True biblical repentance means:
Admitting you are a sinner - not just imperfect, but guilty before a holy God, deserving His wrath
Recognizing your works cannot save you - nothing you do, no ordinance you complete, no progression you achieve can earn salvation
Turning away from false teaching - abandoning the Book of Mormon, Joseph Smith, temple work, and every doctrine that contradicts the Bible
Turning to the true Jesus - the eternal God, Creator of all things, second person of the Trinity, fully God and fully man
Trusting in His finished work alone - His death, burial, and resurrection paid for ALL your sin completely
This is what the Bible calls repentance.
The Simple Gospel: What Saves?
Romans 10:9-10 “that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.”
Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
John 6:47 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life.”
Acts 16:31 “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved.”
That’s it. Believe. Trust. Receive.
Not:
Believe + temple ordinances
Believe + baptism for the dead
Believe + enduring to the end in worthiness
Believe + after all you can do
Just believe in the TRUE Jesus who is GOD, who died for your sins, who rose from the dead, who offers FREE salvation by GRACE ALONE.
What Must You Do Right Now?
1. Confess to God that you are a sinner deserving His judgment
Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
2. Acknowledge that your works, ordinances, and efforts cannot save you
Isaiah 64:6 “For all of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment.”
Your temple work, your missions, your tithing, your Word of Wisdom obedience - all of it is filthy rags before a holy God if you’re trusting in it for salvation.
3. Renounce the false gospel of Mormonism
2 Corinthians 6:17 “Therefore, COME OUT FROM THEIR MIDST AND BE SEPARATE,” says the Lord.
You must abandon:
Joseph Smith as a prophet (he was a false prophet)
The Book of Mormon (it is not Scripture)
Temple ordinances (they cannot save)
Progression to godhood (it is a satanic lie)
The LDS church as the true church (it preaches another gospel)
This will cost you. It may cost you family, community, identity, relationships. But Jesus said:
Luke 14:26 “If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple.”
4. Believe in the TRUE Jesus of the Bible
Not the Jesus who is Lucifer’s brother.
Not the Jesus who became a god.
Not the Jesus who is separate from the Father.
But the Jesus who IS God (John 1:1), who created all things (Colossians 1:16), who is eternal and unchanging (Hebrews 13:8), who died for YOUR sins specifically, who rose from the dead, who offers you FREE salvation RIGHT NOW by grace through faith alone.
5. Call on Him for salvation
Romans 10:13 “for ‘WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED.’”
Pray something like this (not a formula, but from your heart):
“God, I confess I am a sinner. I deserve Your judgment and hell. I have been trusting in the wrong things - in Joseph Smith, in the Book of Mormon, in my temple work, in my own efforts. I renounce all of it. I believe Jesus Christ is God, that He died for my sins, that He rose from the dead. I trust in Him alone for my salvation. I receive Your free gift of eternal life by grace through faith. Save me now. I surrender my life to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
If you prayed that sincerely, believing in your heart, YOU ARE SAVED RIGHT NOW.
Not partially saved.
Not saved after you prove yourself.
Not saved if you endure to the end.
SAVED. COMPLETELY. ETERNALLY. BY GRACE.
John 5:24 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.”
1 John 5:13 “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.”
You can KNOW - not hope, not work toward, not strive for - KNOW you have eternal life.
What Happens Next?
1. Get a Bible (NASB, ESV, or NKJV) and read it
Start with the Gospel of John, then Romans, then the rest of the New Testament. Let Scripture alone guide you, not the Book of Mormon, not LDS teachings.
2. Find a Bible-believing church
Not an LDS ward. A church that teaches:
Salvation by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone
The Bible as the only sufficient and authoritative Scripture
Jesus as fully God, second person of the Trinity
The gospel as Paul preached it in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4
3. Be baptized as a believer
Not for salvation (you’re already saved), but in obedience to Christ’s command as a public declaration of your faith.
Matthew 28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.”
4. Expect persecution
2 Timothy 3:12 “Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.”
Your LDS family and friends will likely reject you, accuse you of apostasy, cut you off. This is the cost of following Jesus.
But consider what you gain:
Matthew 19:29 “And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or farms for My name’s sake, will receive many times as much, and will inherit eternal life.”
5. Rest in His grace
No more striving for worthiness.
No more fear of not doing enough.
No more wondering if you’ll make it to the celestial kingdom.
You are saved. You are His. You are secure. Forever.
Romans 8:38-39 “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
The Urgency: People Are Dying and Going to Hell
Russell Nelson died yesterday. He is facing judgment now.
How many other Mormons will die today?
Tomorrow?
This week?
All following Joseph Smith’s false gospel into the same judgment.
Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.”
The LDS church is the WIDE gate leading to destruction.
Millions are on that path right now.
Will you be one of them?
Or will you turn to the narrow gate - Jesus Christ alone, by grace alone, through faith alone?
This Is Truth in Love
Ephesians 4:15 “but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ.”
Proverbs 27:6 “Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but deceitful are the kisses of an enemy.”
This message wounds. It offends. It challenges everything you’ve been taught.
But it is the truth that can save your eternal soul.
The LDS church tells you what you want to hear:
You’re basically good
You can become a god
Do your best and grace fills the gap
You’re part of the only true church
Follow the prophet and you’ll be fine
The Bible tells you what you NEED to hear:
You are a sinner deserving hell
There is only ONE God and you are not Him
Your best efforts are filthy rags
You are following a false gospel under God’s curse
You need to repent and believe in Jesus alone
One of these messages is comfortable. The other is true.
John 8:32 “and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”
The Choice Is Yours
Deuteronomy 30:19 “I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants.”
Joshua 24:15 “If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve… but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
TODAY - right now - you must choose:
Life or death?
Truth or lies?
Jesus of the Bible or Jesus of Mormonism?
Grace alone or works-based religion?
Heaven or hell?
Russell Nelson made his choice. He is now experiencing the consequences.
What will YOUR choice be?
And will you choose before it’s too late?
A Prayer for Truth
If you’re not ready to pray for salvation yet, but you’re genuinely seeking truth, pray this:
“God, if the LDS church is false, show me. If this document is telling me the truth, reveal it to me. I want to know the real Jesus, the real gospel, the real way to be saved. Open my eyes. Open my heart. Show me the truth, whatever the cost. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
If you pray that sincerely, God will answer.
Jeremiah 29:13 “You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.”
Matthew 7:7-8 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”
The Gospel in One Verse
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”
Whoever believes.
Not whoever completes temple ordinances.
Not whoever does all they can do.
Not whoever follows the prophet.
WHOEVER BELIEVES.
That includes YOU.
RIGHT NOW.
BELIEVE and BE SAVED.
This is the most loving warning you will ever receive. What you do with it determines where you will spend eternity.
